I met her when I was little. She visited my home because she was holding a benefits concert in our little village and my parents helped organize it. She is one if the kindest humans you can ever meet. I was only 6 or 7 and really shy. She talked to me, listened to my recounting of the very exciting day, she carried and hugged me and she even gave me a good night kiss. I still love her and hope I can see her again sometime

I just laugh when kids say singers like Billie Elish are "so different and weird and there's no one else like them". I've got nothing against Billie and her music, but her "quirkiness" is pretty tame compared to anything Nina Hagen has done, sang and wore like...30 years ago.

That's me on drums at 2:30 in the video. I auditioned and joined the band in '81 (I think) , had my 21st birthday (Oct 11) on a transatlantic flight to play a gig in Berlin as our second show after some gigs in L.A. on Sunset Blvd (Troubadour, etc...). I think the video shows a concert from a new years eve party at The World, a club in New York, the party run by Warhol and others, if the year is 1983 as shown. I am playing an all fiberglass kit (except snare) consisting of 5 Pearl tom toms and one floor tom, and a single North bass drum, with two symmetrical Chinese cymbals stacked with medium Pasties up high for short decay, and an assortment of others.

@@Kuemomusic Yeah, I was so surprised when I got the gig after the audition. When I auditioned, I was so down on my luck, I sat down, adjusted the drums, and improvised grooves for about 50 minutes. I would not stop, I said 'fuck it, I'm gonna play till they throw me out'. I guess that was impressive, I got the gig. Yeah, it was eye opening, I barely knew the punk scene, I was into progressive rock and jazz, and the life of a touring musician is... interesting. Also, Nina is and was a total nut case, in the nicest way possible.

Way back in 1982, a co-worker told me that she'd bought an album that absolutely hated and asked me if I wanted it. It was called Nunsexmonkrock and had a picture of a woman holding a baby on the cover. I'd never heard of Nina Hagen and said sure and when I got home put it on and the very first thing that I heard was Antiworld. It took about 30 seconds before I absolutely fell in love with that amazing woman and her amazing voice. I'm still listening to her to this day.

Nina Hagen is one of Germany's most underrated artists - the studio album she did with her band in 1978 (simply called NINA HAGEN BAND) is one of a kind, with a 23-year old Nina pulling all the stops with her unique voice ... being the »Godmother of Punk« and so much more, at the same time. Among other things, she does audio dramas these days, too and supports patients which are being held in psychiatric hospitals against their will (without drawing attention to her efforts which is rare these days, if it comes to "celebrities" and volunteerism..). She might not be in the public eye as much as others but then she has never been one to sell out her art!

I was there and looking for her apearance. I was guessing she would come in a big black car. But she came barefoot on a skateboard. She sang mantras with the kids and was so nice and heartwarming that I changed my opinion about her emediantly. I later read about her she uses to help and work in hospizes (where people shurely will soon die) for an amount of time each year. She seens so crazy but shes so lovely

This video helped to get an idea of her range. She’s all over the place while genuinely being herself without compromising her artistic integrity and over several decades to boot¡ I will definitely check all her stuff.

Her first two big albums, Unbehagen and Nina Hagen Band are absolutely epic psych rock, and her forays into pop afterwards, Fearless, Nunsexmonkrock and Nina in Ekstasy are some of the best music of the era. When I was a club kid back in the 80’s she was an absolute Goddess in our group. I got to see her in LA in the early 2000’s several times and even got to meet her when she played an acoustic set for about twenty fans in a small bar. She hung out and chatted with us after and I told her how important she’d been to me and my friends back in the day. She looked me in the eye and reached out her hand and caressed my cheek like a mother would do to a small child. It meant a lot. Thanks for the upload. It’s great to see her going strong after all these years.

Back in my punk days, I was the only one of my punk friends listening to Nina. While everyone else was wallowing in nihilism, Nina consistently had a fierce, positive message which was so important to an impressionable and depressive teen such as myself. She taught me to never compromise and be true to myself and regardless hope and joy do exist. I told her as much on her message board when the internet first came into being (maybe 2001?) and Nina herself answered me with "A BIG SOULKISS FOR YOU!!" I'm tearing up just thinking about that. Some people say never meet your idols but when it comes to Nina, yes, she is the real deal.

They are all three of them wrong, Wrong, WRONG, giving us nunscence [sic] about gradual strain over the years... It was the multiple jelly woobles she continued to throw, constantly losing the plot, giving birth to a farrow of piglets at any breath of disunification from ANYone, esp fellow interviewees on german talk shows, ALONG with the marched retreating a-HUFFING and a-PUFFING in oh-so-obvious grumptitudes outta that recalcitrant TV networks studios and even worse for her VOX the fact it was all filmed and disseminated to a bunch of non EN nations that think she pretty much is Out Da Gate already anyways, and always was after she nearly was brainwashed into being an alabastered non questioning never rebelling East German Sängerin propagating the party line to ... NO one. The demograph she was supposed to be shilling at didnt want a bar of ANY of it. They could sniff a farrowed nest of waiting pre-tempered trammelled and hidden away piglets from a mile orf and they were anyways were all clustered along the Berlin walls waiting for Depeche Mode to 'urry up, form and make some decent albums, those Ossis knew that the black n white facey was a play by the State to try and be hip and cool and cuntroll them all. ETERNALLY entrammelled in her self auto dynamiced localised to just her and her movements but wisible to ANYone Nini's VOX was already being hit by little nagativities chipping away at one of her shoulders as it like wise weakened her VOX in such tiny increments it would only start collapsing twenty to thirty years and the black and white visible spectrumed Sängerin, East Germanated as a mere singing receptacle for the State (kind of like a songbird that is lived in a not at all beautiful non-guilded cage, so it starts getting fucked off and pecking at Life and wanting to a-jutt its jaw out at any HINT of localised in-cumming CUNTROLL(disasterously for the VOX's health too :( the VOX is gonna be ACTING OUT from even a MINUTE of ANY of ANYONES shizz). Her VOX was not going to chronologically later take any of THAT very well: "Future is NOW" she criptically and knowingly tease-baited helda-esqly chiming another « Future ist NOOOOOWE» (poss VOX damage there on the ´ NOOOWWWE" on one blissfuelled and amazingly non dramaticussed exitussed Television apparance (one had an album to promote, her first solo one, so no tears and tantummings THIS time (Future is NOwww) JAAAAAH?" Well, those nek thugs she does as she stomping outta shot, along with the seven souls of the tibetan throat summoners that she usually accompany's her actings out fugging her neck in open defiance and laying down the current straitened sentiment to the offending disagreeer/s who are notified by UNIVERSALLED status alerts their way that they caused all this dissaproooval their selves (cucumber anyone?), OUT, is very bad for the VOX, esp 'Ers. Add to all of the devoxilating head shugging there a-comes closed up and partially hidden oinking coming from only the Lord better be the only one who stays knowing from where they collectively OInkregate togedder. Her non-lethally throwing whole kine at non hindus that she would spot in her audiences, having MASSIVE FAT ATTACKS ON AIR LIVE in the visual medium, releasing MYRIAD bestovs ad nauseum with no new tracks to add to the well-worn bioRUFFical mix that samewise was released around die Welt(Thanks «Love») causing an incrimental slight change of loss to her voxilater every fucking time we got yet another samey bestov with a bad sleevage (bar Heiss. that one rocks). The Xixaxed mis-behaviours continue. Future WAS Now then wasn't it and die Hagenerin had to lay down her almighty sky-spirited law now didnt she. After all she was signed to CBS and not an independent like mute records so she was stuck contracted to the Establishment which may have made her want to TRY and colour herself anti all that. The complementary clucking was perfected. The inner rumblings oinked on ever hidden and trammelled. Things MUST come to an head somewhere. Some is bound to actually NOT tow the line and worse dissagree and worse in a TV studio, and worse whilst there is a talk show laying there dejectedly waiting there to be walked jettedly and increasingly worrisomly EXITED out of. Her VOX must have been shitting her... I mean itself at the possible Greatest Calamnity. It could just Smauglike snuff itself out in one untrammelled shriek, mirrors could be shattered. Octaves could be squandered and the VOXal deprivations continued anon: unknowingly clubbing fellow Nina Hagen Banders in the face SUR SCÈNE whilst swinging the microphone stand about her in a fireworks sparkler fit of pique AND her seeping voice OUT onto them and sometime the voice the audience (which was supposed to happen anyways but youre supposed to keep your VOX at the end of it... SHE DIDN'T: the VOX abated slowly), and the clucking. The awesome fucking clucking. THOSE Did It. ALL OF IT... Then one day whilst she say with her arse stuck in a metal rubbish bin out the back of some crappy video shoot while she was TOO FUCKING BUSY playing Ru Paul lip queen fucking stupid mawkish lip shape games like her face was the later Ru Paulled smartphone app of the samey conception she was being too bloody clever, or thought herself so and she halved herself IN to the said binsnapping herself shut like a ball schnapping arse crpper of a pet dog that is human shaped and can be forced to fold iteldinto half She had jammed herself INTO the bin and her feet were pocking out the top of it right by her face (and the stupid lip app whutevas werent being assayed now neither blessedly, but this was MAJOR FAT ATTACK COUNTRY ABOUT TO GO DOOOOWN. Alas VOX danger was averted cos you need space to get your attack fatted out there and she was follded inside a smelly rubbish bin and couldnt move. A bumblebee later buzzed nonchalantly past her AWAY from her never nearing her more than 1968 metres, what happened: she bloody heard the thing bumming out its buzz and immediately grew jealous that it was buzzing and out of it and she was a folded stinking binned stupid lipped non entity who juuust managed to walk her stuck self in the bin with her two mashed together feet and head out of VOXal safety. The resulting explosion accually kept North East Europe fed in baby pig fleh for quite some time from her bin-lifed state a full packing two thousand strong farrowload of piglets MOTHERBEARTHED EXPLODING out by her ONto the bumblebees nearby familial quotidian nest (no BUMBLEbees were harmed through out the whole two year ordeal it took her aand UNESCO to get the whole genus farrowed outta her onto an area of the EU the size of Cleves). THAT alone was the coup de grace in deciding the later FATE decimating her VOX. So lets not be flying away high and sly with the slow effectuation of SCREAMING EVERYONES TITS OUT OF EVERY ORIFI SO THEY WILL HEAR ME & MY ECHOES IN BREXITLAND semi centuries later as a continual knock sown VOX DEEFECT and her VOX just gave up its ghost which was down to fucking blessed providence anyways OR of the slow over the years happenstancelater causing my VOX to erode. Thats about as real as HUMAN CAUSED Global Warming.. I mean Personal Jesus and all of the other religious mumbo jumbo. Never bought that album nor the following german punkrocky one either cos her poor voice just WORRIES now when it is walked machinated outta its cell to be sanged with, which saddens me too cos I love Nini and I miss her too. Nacht Kind 'seem' def: give the impression or sensation of being something or having a particular quality. It is *not* exclusively subjective, as you *seem* to think. The point was that dismissing living breathing human beings as non-entities is absurd to the point of being meaningless. It is one thing to express profound admiration for Nina - I certainly feel that way - but doing so by declaring other performers non-existent is unnecessary and just plain dumb.
@nachtkind46
@nachtkind46 6 жыл бұрын
It is not exclusively subjective, however, in the context he was using it in it was. Also, your example proves my point with that. The context you used it in is quite subjective. it may appear to YOU that I think it is exclusively subjective, however, I do not. And there may be many others that do not share your viewpoint on my words. You telling someone else that they cannot see a couple of performers as non-entities is actually quite absurd and unnecessary. They may mean something to you, but to many other people they may not mean anything. Or to some they may be a cheap copy, and that would be their worth. and seeing as he said they seem that pretty much sums up it. He's not telling anyone else to ignore them. He's expressing his own view.. which is the context that makes the word seems subjective. This piece of art seems depressing (subjective, about emotion which can be interpeted different ways) You seem to have a third arm growing out of your body = objective interpretation, however it still relies on the persons interpretation of what that object growing there might be To him they might as well not exist, that is his subjective opinion.

I met Nina after a small venue in NYC, after the show was over, I was going to go home - Michael, a friend of Nina's said she wants you to come out with us. 2 minutes later Nina comes up to me, started talking to me as if I knew her a lifetime. Then Michael, myself and Nina were all seated in the backseat of a friend's car - I almost had to pinch myself - we even sang songs together with her - it was a wild moment. We all went out to eat at The Moonstruck Diner and then we went bar hopping - the bartenders at every bar we went to refused to take any money for anything because we were with Nina - not even tips! So our little group got the red carpet treatment - we went out at 10:30pm - 5:30am - Nina loves the night life. She was fantastic - One hell of a night to remember - it was definitely a dream come true.

She made no compromises, and her first 20 years were sensational. She now lost her voice, but few are as courageous as she was in the 70ies and 80ies. And as original.

Back in the 80s when I first turned on to Nina, I thought she was very advanced and absolutely unique. Seeing this vid, I'm only more convinced of it. She's an absolute artistic jewel !
