Juice of toddy palm | Palmyra palm juice natural alcohol | Cookingfood

The juice thus collected before morning is refreshing and a light drink called Thaati Kallu (తాటి కల్లు) in Telugu, Neera (नीरा) in Marathi and "Pathaneer" (பதநீர்) in Tamil is extremely fresh in sensation and has a sweet sweet taste . The juice collected in the evening or after the fermentation becomes sour, and is called Tadi (ताडी) in Marathi. Tadi is consumed mainly by coastal villagers Maharashtra as a raw liquor.
A sweet sap called toddy can be obtained from the young inflorescence, either male or female. Toddy is fermented to make a drink called arrack, or it is concentrated on a raw sugar called jaggery or Taal Patali (তাল পাটালী) in Bengali and Pana Vellam or Karuppukatti (கருப்புகட்டி or கருபட்டி) in Tamil. It is called Gula Jawa (Javanese sugar) in Indonesia and is widely used in Javanese cuisine. In addition, the sap of the tree is taken as a laxative, and is believed to possess medicinal properties that have also been attributed to other parts of the plant.

The best places for toddy water a. Meik Sit Htan Taw, Thanlyin, Burma, right after the bridge on the south side. b. Tabin Shwehti Htan Taw, Toungoo,Burma. c. Kyaukpatown next to Mount Popa. Sweet in the morning, alcoholic in the mid day and evening, a healthy, long lasting alcoholic effect - better than any Tachila. Good only when you have time to relax.
