Are you using the same models? I'm really not sure why they'd be black because even flipped normals should display the inner geometry. I have a discord server in the description if you are interested. It would be helpful to see screenshots of what you are describing.

Wow. That's a great job. Although the splash doesn't move like real water splash, but I wouldn't notice if that is a still splash obj or something like made in blender, for viewers it doesn't matter a lot, the whole scene is a kinda slowmo ad😃👍 And also thanks for sharing that obj. Can I ask you about graphic card or whatever it's called, of your computer?

With Element 3D, it's not possible to simulate water so it's just a static object. I have an RTX 2080 Ti, but After Effects doesn't use much of the GPU so you don't need the best.

Thanks for watching. The focal length is 24 mm with an F-Stop of 2.8, and the focus distance is animated from 575 pixels at frame 20 to 260 pixels at frame 299. Hope that helps!

Thanks, I appreciate it! Unfortunately, there really isn't a free alternative for After Effects. The only free way to do something similar would be to do it entirely in Blender or with a student license of another 3D app like Maya or 3ds max.

Very useful tut! Why the bottle is visible on top in your AE but isn't in my AE 17.7.0? When i turn "2 views - TOP" on, the bottle and splash goes off on TOP view, but still is on Active camera? Could you explain please

Thanks! You might need to zoom the top camera out a bit. The new camera controls are a bit different. Hold down the 'alt' and left click in and out to zoom. See if that helps.

@@CGStirk it's very strange but i just can't zoom with Alt and left click. There are 3 modes of camera (in new version of AE) and Alt works only with active camera, not with top/bottom and etc :(

@@ЕвгенийЛукьянов-ц2й Oops, I meant right-click. Sometimes I forget what buttons I'm pressing haha. It does work with any view, though. If you still can't get it to work, you can switch the mode from Orbit Around to Dolly Towards, and then you just click and drag normally without needing alt. If that still doesn't work, you can upload your aep file on the discord server and I'll take a look to make sure there's nothing fishy going on.

Sorry, I don't know. Also, Element 3D requires a dedicated graphics card, so you'd need to check to see what your MacBook has.

Yeah, you can use whatever 3d modeling app you want. Blender, Maya, 3ds max, Lightwave, Modo, etc. It just has to be an obj file

Hi bro, had a project to be completed but my shitty machine cannot proceed to get rendered it I had all the alembics, animations did in Maya, but I want to render in AE using Element 3D. I can successfully import obj files texture them light them and alm that shit but I cannot import the animation, the abc files, vdb can't be imported right, so is there any way I can render them in AE?? Maya is taking like 3 hours for a single frame I would be dead when the final output renders and composite it 😂

Unfortunately, Element 3D's file support is extremely limited. To render an animation, you have to export an obj sequence in which every frame is a new obj. VDBs and ABCs are not supported. I would suggest looking into Unreal if you want faster render times. There's a much steeper learning curve, but it's a very powerful application even though it's rendering support is limited. At least everything runs in real-time.

For the label to be sized properly, the bottle model has to be UV'd in a 3D app. This was already done. So, in Element, if the texture isn't aligned properly, click on the model layer, go down to UV Mapping, and make sure the Texture Mapping is set to UV. If the model you're using doesn't have unwrapped UV's, then try some of the other UV types like Box and play with the UV Repeat and UV Offset settings. Hope that helps!
