Perfect example at the start of the game are clam shells on the beach areas. They weight less than a pound. But sell for 5g a piece. They won't show with pressing the Alt key. You need to just spot them or mouse over to get the item highlighted. There's a lot of items like that in the game.

I've been using "Sleep" a lot to cc enemies. One thing I noticed is that sometimes enemies companions will actually wake up the enemies you have slept so to counter that there are stuffed teddy bears in the game. If you sleep an enemy, you can on your next turn throw a teddy bear at that enemy which will make that enemy enter into a deep sleep at which point they start to suck their thumbs and become immune to being woken up until the sleep turns have ended. Very cool mechanic.

Some loot containers you can pick up and send to your camp. In the camp chest you can use them to sort things into them like files into folders. Makes navigating the camp chest a lot easier. And then you can pick up the container with loot from the camp and sell it to a vendor as single item, for the full price of everything inside.
@ardentdfender4116
@ardentdfender4116 Жыл бұрын
That’s just a very cool idea. The ability to sell a designated loot chest, backpack, box, crate all in one go at a trader with everything inside for full price of all the item inside in one transaction is a huge timesaver. Because you can then have multiple storage items already inside a camp chest or even your inventory designated for specific items or junk rather for Trading. The thing so far is in game you can’t actually rename chests, crates, backpacks etc that are all storage systems. But I guess what is possible in while playing the game, adventuring you can just have some fun picking up interesting or unusual large storage containers. You can litter them around at camp as different storage items each their own maybe separate from the camp chest. Just up to player creativity.

A piece of advice that nearly every guide and youtuber seems to miss. That ive been trying to post every where i can: Torches. They are broken early game. They arent just for sitting in your inventory and pressing the torch button on the ui to have light. They are in faft a club weapon. And basically one with a fire enchant. This has two implications. 1 - As a club, it works with a druid's Shillelagh cantrip. Which will increase the club damage from 1d4 to 1d8. As well as make your attack modifier wisdom. This means a druid or nature cleric has access to a one handed weapon that can do as much damage as a greatsword/axe. Due to it being 1d8+1d4(fire damage). This makes a level two dip into druid with shadowheart one of the best decisions you can make until you unlock respec and have the money to do so. Also of note, the cantrip makes it a magic weapon whilst active. Circumventing resistances to non-magical weapons by some monsters. So the torch has a LOT of miles on anyone with this cantrip. 2 - You can throw them and get the fire damage effect along with the crushing damage from an elevated position. Making them the best non-throwing weapon in the game to throw. As you'll pick up plenty and not need to buy multiples of them. I hope this helps people.

I haven't tried on release, but during EA, the shig cantrip remove the fire damage making it just a 1d8 weapon damage

This is beyond busted. In 5e, there's a select few abilities you can use to get one piece of information of an enemy. If you know the statblock, it's considered metagaming to play your character like he knows it too. Meanwhile here you press T over an enemy and the goddess of knowledge blessed you with info about every single stat, saving throw, ability, and what not. It's TOO busted. I wish they gave you out of combat resources like Monster Manuals and such, or word of mouth/teaching from a scholar that would give your character the knowledge of certain monsters, so that you can know select info about select few monsters.
@XBezerkerX
@XBezerkerX Жыл бұрын
@Isaax It doesn't really give you that much info and it doesn't really 'help you' since your still reliant on dice roll. In most cases the character sheet is irrelevant because the games attacks will tell you their % to hit so you can ignore the character sheet entirely by just clicking a few different ability saves and looking at the % to hit.

Love reading tips from other viewers in the comments, so I would add that it's worthwhile to collect visually distinct containers to keep in the camp storage chest. There's A LOT of items in this game, so I separate out good armor and weapons, quest items, extra supplies, camp clothes, dye, etc. Also, enchanted amulets and rings are very light and it's worth it to keep the good ones in a pouch on your main character. A lot of the spells on those items can only be used once per long rest, so you can swap it out for something else.

And it will do one damage and something like five crushing damage. So, if you throw a javelin or spear that you may have gotten from the ruins or crypt. They'll hit real hard in that fight. Just remember to pick them back up after the fight. You can go Eldritch Knight for Bonded Weapon. Which will return your thrown weapon back to your hand. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. Much appreciated! Some things I'd like to add/clarify: Always entering turn-based mode so that you ensure you have the first round of actions is great but take note of positioning. If you can enter a battle with initiative first and have surprise actions, you'll have a larger benefit to your rolls than utilizing turn-based mode to initiate first. Ranged attacks always suffer at melee range, JUMP is one of the best options to utilize often as typically when an enemy closes the distance (such as using dash), you can jump out of melee range to utilize your proper ranged attacks. Many mage classes/subclasses use aoe attacks which can be great for groups, but not so much when your own party members are a part of that group. Positioning, positioning, positioning. Toggling group mode before entering a battle can be invaluable and allows you to position your characters in a much better way for you to utilize every party member's strength. This is even more so when you have someone with good stealth abilities (such as Astarion). If you can catch an enemy alone, you can separate and/or take them down without starting an area-wide battle. I recommend to never use auto-select for camp supplies because more often than not, you'll end up over-utilizing the /40 requirement and could be wasting 1 or 2 camp supplies that may need later on.

As far as clicking on inventory slots goes, it is also worth noting that it will include any containers you have in your possession. So you could put all your armor in one sack, weapons in another, etc. Then when you want to try out a different build go to camp, drag that container onto your character, click around to find the pieces you want, then put the containers back in the inventory. If you select the items that way, whatever you previously wore will be put into the container the other item came from. Can make it easier than taking all, and putting all the items back. Also -- and it took me a while to figure this one out -- you can use CTRL clicking to select multiple items, or shift clicking to select rows of items, and you can then ctrl click to deselect specific items. Makes it easier to move lots of stuff at once, especially if you order by type before hand. Heck, inventory management could almost be its own entire video in this game (for better or worse).

Someone said you can even heal temporary companions/party members/summons by opening the party menu (helmet above the team portraits on the left) and selecting a potion to use from the inventory. As long as you are controlling the character, whoever's inventory it is shouldn't matter. i thought it depended on size? that enemies had to be small. maybe it's just that small enemies weigh less. regardless the reduce size spell can let you throw enemies but even more easily used to reduce size of your allies and throw them over obstacles or to move them when it's not their turn or without using their movement speed. similarily you can shove your own allies to get them away from zone's of control so they won't get attacks of opportunity made against them. void grenades are OP cuz i think it's a 100% chance to pull everything regardless of size over a big distance, easily pulling an entire encounter or boss fight into a cliff. obviously these are limited in number and usually found on dead mind flayers. throw build barbarians are crazy strong. beserker gives you enraged throw, dealing more damage with high strength and knocking people prone, it's a bonus action so you can throw 2-3 weapons per turn. the tavern brawler feat makes this damage even higher. meanwhile eldritch knight will have their weapon return to their hand after throwing, so it's good for specifc magic weapons that trigger effects on hit or when thrown, such as the healing flails.

That functionality gave me one of those epiphany moments about how much freedom the game actually allows for (this is my first Larian game). You can create pretty elaborate plans of attack whenever you notice your enemies before they notice you. And especially when people you know you want to kill are not hostile yet. Position every party member in the most advantageous place you can find, enter turn based mode and attack all at once before anyone even has a chance to turn hostile.

You can actually swtich around your partys action order if they roll the same initiative, you'll see their blue portrait frame at the top as some nice intertwined texture if they are right next to each other. that means whenver its their turn, its their turn at the same time and you can pick and chose who does what and goes where if you click on their portait, for example the last person can buff the first person before first person attacks which you would want.

There are some places where you can't long rest willy-nilly. For example, there is a quest in Act 3 that you have to do within a certain number of days to get the benefit of having done it. short list of niche advanced tips: invisibility can help you pickpocket however fog spell is cheaper and more effective in open areas where NPCs are hard to distract, since you only need to cast it once. obviously talking to NPCs with your other character can force them to face certain directions, moving sightlines, however this is only really viable when there are dialogue options. might work on turnbased mode. instead of picking locks, sturdy chests and doors can easily be smashed down with laezelle or karlach. medium sturdy objects can be more consistently damaged in my experience if you turn on "all in" or equivelant passive that gives higher damage for lower accuracy. if it says "0 damage (sturdy)" that doesn't mean you're too weak to break it, you may have just gotten a low damage roll and need to try again. void grenades have a 100% chance to pull any enemy and item regardless of size (i think) which can be used to instantly kill bosses from afar when thrown by a cliff. ways of revealing invisibility is more limited in baldurs gate 3 than in other dnd titles, however since it's a concentration spell, damage can stop the effect. enviromental damage such as acid surfaces don't always count as an attack and won't aggro bosses when done far away and hidden. so if you know where invisible enemies are standing, you can reveal them before combat. moving the statue of sylvanos off of the pedestal and to the ground nearby makes it easier to steal, they only let you touch it once without consequences then they aggro (after saving halsin). disguise or switching party member will give you more freebies. after turning it into the tiefling children to finish their quest, you can pick pocket it back and keep the permanent buff it provides. disguise (given for free by the mask in the peculiar clothing chest) allows you to speak to corpses that refuse to speak to their murderers. making enemies smaller enables you to throw them however making yourself bigger doesn not do the same. this can also be used to toss party members across surfaces. can be useful in combat to move party members when it's not their turn, conserving their movement. similarily, shoving alllies can get them out of zones of control so they won't get attacks of opportunity made against them. it also provides buffs to damage and strength or dexterity and evasion depending on which. tooltips mention this but landing on web stops you from taking fall damage. so instead of taking feather fall as a lvl 1 spell (or using scrolls / potions) and casting it on each party memeber once, you can put web on the spot you want to land and jump down all at once. you may be able to throw silk sacks looted by spiders instead, or craft like a web grenade or smt with it. tooltips also mention that you can hit buttons and levers with ranged attacks or spells to activate them, good for disarming traps safely. obviously chandeliers can also be dropped on people's head's and support beams can be destroyed on shoddy elevation platforms too. undead enemies can often be robbed and disarmed before combat start if you can tell they're going to reanimate. coffins can also be moved. in divinity 2 you could fill a chest with items to make it heavier, then throw it at someone's head to deal way more damage and possibly one-shot them. idk if this is possible in baldurs gate 3 but i bet it is. throw build barbarians are crazy strong. beserker gives you enraged throw, dealing more damage with high strength and knocking people prone, it's a bonus action so you can throw 2-3 weapons per turn. the tavern brawler feat makes this damage even higher. meanwhile eldritch knight will have their weapon return to their hand after throwing, so it's good for specifc magic weapons that trigger effects on hit or when thrown, such as the healing flails. the martial adept feat is good on support/utility casters, as there aren't many other feats for supporting. you only get one dice but it replenishes on short rest and can make a big difference. for wyll and gale i recommend commander's strike and rally. as they lack heals and it can be used to revive people from a distance in a pinch. otherwise, commanding strike gives your DPS one extra attack. for shadowheart you may want to replace rally with disarm. multiclassing as battle master may be better for utility tho. speaking of multiclassing, putting two levels into fighter on your casters will give them action surge, allowing them to cast twice in one turn. you can get a lot of value from this since it's twice per long rest. there are many more things but to keep it short.

Something I learned via camp supplies is NEVER do auto as it will always go over the 40 limit even when it doesn't need to, same with unstacking food so you can easily min max and hit that 40 limit.

Another thing to build on throwing potions, you can drop them on the ground before combat then use Mage Hand to Shove / Throw the Potions at party members that need healing.

I've seen this tip get parroted a bunch before and after release, and I can't help but think that is an incredibly specific thing to prep before a fight. Why waste a few minutes setting this up when I might not need the health potions? If I do know I'm going to take damage, why not find a way to avoid it instead of setting all this up? How much use even is this if you can only place potions where your character can reach, meaning the mage hand has to be on the ground instead of in a high position or used to push enemies off their sniper perches?

@@SaturninePlaces It's situational for sure, but good to know regardless. Shared it again here because it's a use for Mage Hand that might inspire other creative tactics.

To everyone that considers holding camp supplies in the camp chest: I encountered a bug that didn't spawn my camp chest when I went to rest, so I had no camp supplies on me and couldn't fully rest. My advice is, always keep one 40-pack on you, just in case.

were you in a dungeon? an indoor dungeon's campsite has no traveller's chest, to my knowledge.

@@Dalziel45 yes, I was, and I tried a few times camping in a dungeon, most of the times there was a chest and one time there wasn't. Which leads me to believe that it's expected to have the chest available.

'Add to wares' is also a useful tool- before going to a vendor, order your inv by type, then shift click to bulk select all the junk weapons/armour/valuables you want to sell, right click > add to wares. Then when you get to a vendor click the 'sell wares' button at the bottom of the UI to sell all tagged items that character has in their inv. No more clicking individual items to sell them. you can also 'pick up and add to wares' right out of lootable boxes. This will particularly speed up vendor interactions in multiplayer games where at present only one player can talk to a merchant at once.

One of most QOL features for me is keybindings. You can open "custom" tab at the bottom and drag abilities here. After this - this abilities can be asses on 1-9 buttons

you forgot to mention that you can select multiple items by holding shift, and deselect/select specific items with ctrl. also mentioning that keeping one of the characters camp satchel inside the camp chest is very convenient. You can select all the junk, then drag it onto the camp satchel and only camp supplies will be placed inside. Same applies for alchemy bags and their materials. another convenient tip: loot some of the backpacks you find out in the world, and use them to organize your inventory. I place a bag in each characters inventory and they take specific types of items: My sneak character holds all the poisons and arrows, my caster holds all the potions(except healing which are distributed), my melee holds the scrolls, and the support holds all the story items (orange). Once you get used to the location of each of the bags, it becomes second nature putting them away in their respective bag. Once you have all the other items put away, you are just left with junk and equipment. I like to have my melee carry all the spare magic gear, since they have high strength. the rest of the stuff that is remaining is just for sale! So I mass select and mark as "add to wares". Then I just distribute this across the party as space allows. Once I go to a vendor, its a simple matter of clicking "sell all wares" once you switch to trade mode. Hope this helps who ever reads this! :D have fun out there adventurers!

Step one, get Chest of the Mundane. Step two put every single explosive barrel you find in it. Step 3 have berserker barbarian hold it and throw the barrels at enemies while using fire cantrip from other character to blow up the puddles of grease and explosive powder for big aoe damage. Haven't tried it yet but I will in my next play through and expect it to be pretty effective.

Hold Person easily available to Clerics and Bards by just LVL3 (I don't remember if you need to have a specific subclass or not) also works to give you like 100% chance to push.

4:40 I swear by this one myself, give like 3 or 4 hundred gold at the start to at least get it in the green, especially if it's a merchant you'll be near or doing a lot with and you'll get everything cheaper along with more for what you give to trade ot sell, it's real nice, especially Aaron at the start, you'll be visiting him at least a few times and after the 5th item you buy from him you've basically made your money back

As far as High Ground is concerned, it doesn't grant you Advantage on your ranged attack roll, instead applying a +2 to your attack. Comparatively Low Ground gives you a -2 to attack, and the Sharpshooter feat negates these penalties.

Slight clarification on how party member's charisma affects pricing: It's actually checking the persuasion skill (including any CHA modifier.) If you have a skill monkey with expertise in persuasion, that character will get much better deals than another unskilled character with the same CHA score.

You can use smoke cloud outside of combat to nick stuff (hint hint Thieves Guild) and you can use disguise to talk to the dead even if they hate (the original) you. I somehow got (apparently) limitless recasts of speak to the dead; idk if it's intended (didn't test it much before); I have the boon from the book and the necklace. Ability check jump-ins won't always work in MP, it's a bit janky, so make sure to cast it outside of dialogue when or before they enter it (Guidance) or before a lockpick or disarm. Haven't tested Charm yet (only works on human(oid)s btw. Turn Dead is amazing VS Undead. (Who'd have known?) There's a metric ton of funny sh!t that can happen, both intentional and unintentional. Go play around! Quicksave often and don't be afraid to long rest (this mostly for refilling spell slots and abilities or refill short rests) Things you put around the camp will stay but I've heard they can disappear when you upgrade if they're in the way of new stuff (but should [mostly] be placed in your chest when "removed") You can simply degroup and place a character far away (or send to camp) if you want to do a dialogue they will be displeased at. I haven't done this myself even with OCPD but I can picture some cases where it's useful. Saving the two farmers Shadowheart for some reason *DISLIKES* you saving is one such example but I forgot to do that myself. Oh and Shadowhearts dialogue I realized it's meant for you to visit a shrine in [beast name without spoiler here] cave before finding the Old Textbook in the invaded village. This unlocked a whole set of "progression" for me in a new save I did coop, whereas in my SP campaign she just basically told me to "leave it" when having her second "pain". Not sure if it's ruined for me in SP now.

Something I found really useful - Need your entire party to have Lightning resistance but don't have 4 elixirs? group up and throw 1 and you all get it. I was using 1 per party member for a full year until I realised this. It works for any Elixir in the game that can be thrown at someone for effect. I have not tried it with very rare ones or anything weird.
