I really like this shorter form content- I find myself getting bored after longer videos. You should keep posting the longer videos and then shorter clips from them! I would also recommending posting them on KZbin shorts as well

Yes experimenting with this “highlights” way of making content. I notice too there there is a big drop off after about 6 minutes so a lot of folks miss out on some of the better content near the middle/end of the shows. So i think you are right in this regard! Shorts good idea too.

Off topic from the video - but do you know any composers that license under cc (some or all of their works)? And if so, was it beneficial in supporting their career? Do you think royalties and charging for scores prohibits getting your work out there? Or is it a necessity to make a living?

@@saadhaddadmusic creative commons, licences for your work that give privileges to the public such as usage and distribution without royalties

@@Jwellsuhhuh I Don’t know anyone that does that personally - most composers I know (myself included) supplement our composition income with teaching. Otherwise it’s a lot of pressure to create music on commission and rely on constant performances to keep one’s income consistent. In my experience, charging for your music doesn’t prohibit its distribution at all. If someone likes your music enough to practice and play it they will pay for it. Royalties are distributed to composers without payment from musicians so there shouldn’t be any reason to not collect those for public performances.

@@saadhaddadmusic I've been reading in on creative commons and it seems like the most common way to distribute music for free, but I think it also forfeits you from public performance royalties (like ascap) since anyone can perform or distribute a cc work as long as they credit the author. I'm using it in hopes that more people would find, listen, and try to play my music without having to pay up front. Interesting to hear that most composers don't provide any of their work free of charge.

@@Jwellsuhhuh it’s up to each individual person. If you are comfortable doing that, that’s great! - I just don’t see how that works long term to sustain any kind of a living from this. The pay is already quite low to begin with compared to other fields. Lots of composers I should add also do other jobs besides music or even teaching.
