Someone during the broadcast said about Sarah Strong that she is in the process of figuring out that nobody can stop her. I love that quote. Juju, Paige, Strong, Hidalgo, Kiki and many more. The college wbb has so many exciting prospects. I think right now people should stop comparing them to CC and just watch, talk about and enjoy their play. They are great and exciting in their own right. I think both the media and coaches should simply cover them, trust and believe people are watching, and covering these athletes, putting the spotlight just on them is a worthy investment.
@michelleblanc637718 күн бұрын
I totally agree with your comment we should applaud this upcoming infusion of talents in the WNBA for who they are there will be plenty of time to compare their actual game to CC once they reach the WNBA. Those will become factual comparison instead of those speculative comparisons that we currently have that add no actual value to the debate. This constant comparison is more than likely detrimental to the development of those players who now have to contend with expectations of being better than another player already playing at a higher level who has a lot of accomplishments in College I can easily see how it can become overwhelming for some of those players.
@otnielbelfor52818 күн бұрын
@ second this 100% I think this is a constant in a lot of american sports, but mostly at the pro level. I think in the W its a lot more college to pro’s i think there is where the detriment is. It is fun, but its in the end just setting them up for failure to meet astronomical expectations that were never theirs in the first place.

I remember reading somewhere that when Caitlin was in HS, her dream school was UConn. But b/c Paige was the #1 recruit, UConn chose her instead resulting in Caitlin going to Iowa. I think that much like not making the Olympic team, not being able to go to UConn ended up being blessing for CC. Based on how Geno has managed Paige, it feels safe to say that CC’s basketball game & mentality would’ve been ruined by going to UConn. Also, I can’t help but feel like Geno would’ve also mismanaged handling CC’s fiery competitiveness & emotion.

I agree with alot of your points. Sarah Strong is going to be special going forward. I was at the game and it was interesting to see Paige for a second time live. She is super talented and I agree i think the UConn system has hindered her aggressive offensive approach to the game. JuJu game still needs refinement. She plays a little hero ball which leads her into double teams, turnovers and missed opportunities to hit wide open teammates. With that said she did hit open teammates at key points down the stretch which was really good. I would love to see her learn how to play off the ball and that speaks to coaching and the actions they run. JuJu is a sophomore so she has sometime to develop her game. Great work sister and keep shining. 😊

I just got to say all these folks talking about leaving JuJu in the game to stack her stats... like that is the exception, it's not. All coaches do it, even for Caitlin Clark! For example: Iowa was beating Minnesota 86-48 by the 3rd Quarter. Was Clark taken out of the game because they were already ahead by 38 points? No she continued to play until less than 4 minutes left in the game when the score was 96-56. Clark also played over half the 4th quarter against Northwestern & FDU despite having a sizeable lead. The same recently with Hannah Hidalgo! In the Notre Dame vs Loyola Maryland win 97-54 where Hannah scored 33 points... ND was already up 93-47 before subbing out Hannah with less than 4 minutes left in the game. Even this year's leading scorer Ta'Niya Latson played until there was 3:15 left in the game and they were already up 114-42 against North Florida. Besides it was pre-season, and coaches want to build up that fire of confidence in their players, especially their starting players.

Is off season for CC. Most of the attention is now on Buckets. Regardless of what Buckets does... the haters are ready to pounce. Buckets is the ultimate team player in women's college basketball. Uconn is and will always be a top ten team in women's college basketball every season. Buckets had two major knee surgeries, and she tough it out. We can't say that if these top players goes through what Buckets had to go through, are they as mentally tough as Buckets. God bless CC, HH, Ju Ju, etc. that they haven't had any major surgeries. I think you do an exceptional job with your commentaries! Thank you... Per your thoughts, I don't think Geno has had any negative impact on Paige's game. If you look at the entire body of work, she deserving or not was at the top of the top as a Freshman for Player of the Year with her play. Coming back off the injury, she was amazing against NC State in the Elite 8 and Stanford in the Final Four to lead them to a Championship game and then moved to a four last year due to a decimated roster and again led them to a Final Four. Now moving back to guard and having another role change and a fourth completely different support cast is a lot to navigate. Azzi in then Azzi out, Sarah, Chen, Chelli and Alfy New and Aubrey still out is a lot to navigate as a guard while the team is still trying to gel. Not to mention the internal pressure of being stalked to the degree she was. I think these issues are large factors in her being a bit off what's expected from her. 3 Final Four appearances each year healthy and I believe once Azzi and Aubrey are back (if able to stay healthy) she will be back there again and playing lights out.

Looking at the background, it can only be France ;-) And you're right: If Juju is being pushed to break Caitlin's records they risk burning her out or injuring her and in both cases ruining the single most important step in her career: The jump into the WNBA. The next 10 year of her life - heck, her whole life - is going to be defined by the next 1 or 2 years, and I firmly believe that the last-year players should be allowed to focus forward. That would also open opportunities for younger players to find their footing and therefore be best for everyone. But, alas, there is money in the game.

They want to play no matter what the score is and they put the pressure on their coach to leave them in the game. Also JuJu wants to leave college early, she doesn’t want to play 4-5 years in college just to break meaningless records. Paige played good hard defense, just like JuJu and Hanna, can you imagine JuJu playing against CC in the WNBA, with the weak defense that CC plays, JuJu will put up 50 every time that she plays against Caitlin.

Hannah hildoga from notre dame is the best player in women's college basketball to many minutes for both players that's why neither team USC or UCONN can win the national championship this year
