I think as long as you can give great insight and maybe get people to learn it doesn’t matter man or woman.
@thetrib114 сағат бұрын
"Joy kinda already was not liked and seemed to butt in...." 🤣 and this is also part of the issue. you do realize that for over a year joy has been, at least by fox sports community, respected as someone who gives an opinion about sports. go look at the comment sections on their show throughout this year...many people agreed with joy or disagreed with joy without the implication of doing the "oh she's a woman so she doesn't know what she's talking about.". go look even further back at her own podcast, it's the same thing there. even if people disagreed with joy, her opinion was respected. she of course isn't doris but that's like saying baker mayfield isn't pat mahomes. baker doesnt' need to be pat to be respected. joy was respected. now...did she sleep her way to the top? maybe. but that doesn't change her performance, that just changed her ability to get the opportunity. joy is rare..mina is rare....and a few others. but most women in positions like joys or right below joy's aren't respected as opinionators.

It's rare to hear women admit that a false accusation is very wrong and that is damaging but then when your concern is only that other women won't be believed. Yes that is half of it but also a life is ruined there is a direct victim not a hypothetical victim that is a woman. When men abuse women it is terrible it's just as terrible when women falsely accuse men it ruins their lives. A false accusation should be punished as equally as accusation claimed would be. For example there was a boy in my town who punched a man that touched his sister on a city bus. The video evidence showed there there was absolutely no interaction and it was fabricated The man fell hit his head died the boys in jail for a long time and has to live with killing someone for the rest of his life just because he wanted to protect his sister

Also, Joy is not being accused of sexual harassment, from all accounts these are consensual encounters, if they took place. Also, as you pointed out, most men are mad at Joy for allegedly “saying something” that she never did, I repeat they are mad about something she allegedly said but never did. Thats silly. Again, I’ll wait for the evidence to come out. If there is no text message or record of her saying that I’m sorry but that’s a bunch of BS. I played football at the college level for 5 years, interned for a semester, & coached college then HS football for a total of 7 years. I believe that experience is where my subconscious biases came from. I acknowledge that it could be the area I live in, but I hear the "slept her way to the top" allegation/talking point from women far more than I hear it from men. I would guess that's probably atypical, but that's just my experience in the wider Ohio Valley area I've lived, played, & coached in.

Another good Rant Post Rachel ❤ I congratulate you on personally finding a path that has enabled you to be able to survive and then thrive in a male dominated industry 👏 My question is should you have had to? My answer is No! I believe Woman should be given a level playingfield as the men but in reality we know that’s simply NOT the case. I’m so pleased you didn’t take the “easy” way and persevered with great confidence and self worth and strong female belief in yourself and abilities …. I bet your Mum and Dad are very proud of their daughter ❤️

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights. You definitely add value and that’s why I listen to your broadcasts. Lots of men cover sporting events without personal experience in the sports they’re covering. And they do a good job. That same thing applies to everyone in my view, no matter their gender. Having said that, I do value your experience in basketball. At the end of the day, the bottom line for me is that your perspective helps me to understand what’s going on in the sports I follow. Oh--and your personal attitude: I wish I had possessed the wisdom and confidence you display during my own career (I’m long retired!), especially in taking full responsibility for your work and in not being unnecessarily distracted by the opinions of others. It’s good --it’s important--to consider the opinions of others. It’s even better-even more important-to be true to yourself and your own opinions.

I went to HS with a girl who became an Olympian basketball player, if she went on a tv show I'd have no reason not to listen to her. Playing the game does give you a lot of credibility but some women only bring their looks. I do blame men for that, not just the man that's doing the hiring but also the men that tune in to watch. Her saying she would put a false charge on him is just atrocious though, IMO if that's true she should never be allowed on any network.

Addendum: don't be a hypocrite. If women can talk about any sports, than any man can talk about women's issues, any white person can talk about black issues.. . example: you can't shut down conversation and say, " well, your not black, so shut up!". . ."well, you never played in the NFL, so shut it!". . You can't have it both ways.

I assume he means people don't respect the opinion of those they think lack lived experience. Like if you've never played men sports you can't understand men's sports or if you've never lived as a woman you can't speak on women's issues. But that's just gatekeeping anyone can become knowledgeable and speak on any subject they chose. It's up to the audience if their interested in the information.

Another thing is it relates to sports media which constitutes like 90% men whether employed or an active audience . Other than that you are absolutely killing it with your takes, I'm sure these topics hit different for you being in the industry and what you've probably faced personally but as a viewer I wouldn't be able tell by the way you present, you seem very self-aware, composed , accountable and not jaded by cognitive biases. Hope to see you on the next level.

As a guy, yeah you are easy on the eyes and that helps. But I wouldn’t watch you if you didn’t come across with legit discussion. I don’t think you have to have participated professional in a mobs sport or women’s for that matter, to be educational and interesting to watch/ learn from. My 2 cents. But, again , you can thank the CC effect for my attention . Keep up the good work

As a woman who worked in the computer field back in its early days, I was always the only female in my department. Because I was young & the only woman in my department, I constantly heard rumors that I must be sleeping with my co-workers or bosses. In every job there will always be people who want to deflect from their own miserable existence, so they love nothing more than to perpetuate & spread negativity about others. And despite what men say, they gossip just as much, if not more than women, the difference is their gossip is usually always focused on who they think is sleeping with who. To me this largest issue is that all female sportscasters must be very beautiful to be successful. You will never see an average looking women doing sports broadcasting. So all women in the field are immediately treated as eye candy & admired for their beauty vs their abilities & knowledge of the sport. But this isn't just a problem in sports, it exists in all media.

Great video Rachel. I do think what allegedly Ms. Taylor did has hurt women in sports. In terms of what I look for? Tbh I actually really don't care if it's a man or woman, as long as they know their stuff and aren't too opinionated about a team or athlete during the broadcast. I enjoy your work cause you do back up your thesis with stats and you don't inject your personal opinions too hard into the content. Have a great week.

Honestly, for me, I do only pay attention to women in sports when I find them attractive. I don’t watch much women sports but definitely sometimes view a volleyball game or gymnastics match or the track and field events. As far as media, same thing. Even men dogging Joy now are the same ones who gladly tune in to gawk at her because she’s attractive and most of us are subscribed and watch this channel because Rachel is beautiful. I personally believe this is the overwhelming truth for most men in regard to women sports/media.

I have not seen you in a live broadcast. At least in this space I consider you one of the best. Some of the men are just loud and act sure of what they are saying and never admit they were wrong. In sports the truth is no one knows what is going to happen. I enjoy intelligent analysis but accept that 50% of the time it's still going to be wrong about the outcome. Even though the observations are correct. I like Colin Cowherd, and Dan Patrick for example. They are smart and correct in what they are analyzing but still wrong about outcomes about half the time. You are always thoughtful and your videos add value to the conversation. Thanks.

Casually watch sports, mainly final games, playoffs, etc. As far as those who report on sports the main thing for me is how knowledgeable they appear to be and how charismatic. Men or women. It is a huge turn off though seeing female reporters trying to be like their men counterparts or having excessive takes and dramatic opinions. Report on facts and keep the extra stuff to a minimum. Love watching your takes on sport news because you keep it mostly about facts and add a fun and light personal banter. I really appreciated your New Year 2025 video on trying to stay away from the negative drama this yr. On a side note i feel like most would agree that personal opinions carry more weight from people that have been athletes themselves, but it isn’t a must. Look at Swoops for example. What a disaster she has made of herself.

Innocent until proven guilty is not actually the way it has ever worked.... Why do people go to jail and get released on bond or bail when they are charged if they are actually innocent until proven guilty? You are guilty until you prove you're innocent.
@MrArrow548 сағат бұрын
@@420blowingsmoke That makes no sense your being charged with the crime. It's not like all suspects are arrested and detained till trial without grounds only the accused. You couldn't have an impartial system of trial if the authorities could just detain and punish you instantly. There needs to be a system in place to monitor or detain flight risks so a trial can take place. The judge during the trials doesn't treat the accused as guilty and the defense is duty bound to fight for their client even if its obvious they are guilty. A defense which is funded by the system so the accused can protect themselves from false charges if they can't get their own. I don't think its quite innocent till proven guilty since a minor bias occurs if you have enough evidence against you to be charged but they don't assume guilt either. Other then the prosecutor which couldn't do their job if they didn't think the accused was guilty.

@@MrArrow54 dude I'm just telling you how it is. Once they charge you, that goes on your record as a charge not as a conviction. The DA's office nolle prossed the charge (unwilling to prosecute) I went to jail because I missed a court date, was never found guilty but all that is still on my record because I got charged with a DUI. The Eye Candy is a plus, but as a man into sports, I listen whoever is talking when he or she knows what he or she is talking about. That is all that matters, but yes the Eye Candy doesn’t hurt. And as a high level boss with lots of employees, I just stay away. I’m currently on a business trip and every morning people say, “how come you weren’t at dinner last night”.. I just stay away and don’t put myself at risk. However, it’s not that easy for all men, especially if that man is not experienced with women. I’m used to having attention from women, so it’s a lot easier to take control and not get caught up when they throw themselves at me .But for the men who are not used to women’s attention, they are the ones that fail and get caught up in the drama.
