The frequent cuts to your deadpan face as you watch the credits as a very funny touch to this video
@overworkedsalaryman8 ай бұрын
I think the only time I actually reacted to anything during the entire credits was when Pole To Win's name came up because that company gave me ptsd back in the day. Aside from that I was so done because of how long the credits were. I wouldn't be surprised if Banco had more than 100 names across all the different regions they had people based in for this

Now that you mentioned it, I don't think I find as much kusoge in the JP market as I used to. At least, not among the retail stand alone releases. I think most of the JP kusoge you find nowadays is in the mobile gacha game releases. I'm sure you will find a treasure trove of shit among those every year. It's not for nothing that most of those get 'end of service'd before their first anniversary. Regardless. I loved the video. I'm looking foraward for your very own KOTY!

The mobile game market... it's true that with how many of those exist still it might be possible to find many bad ones for a video such as this too

@@correction64gay74 That's true, it just felt bizaare since it's the same company that made the heroaka games and comparatively those were fine which makes it interesting that this one in particular ended up like this. Also in the weirdest of coincidences someone tried to offload a copy of the game on me just yesterday XD Had to tell them that unfortunately I already had a copy and we had an "I feel you bro" moment

Watching you play was kinda painful too since I can see just how slow the game unintentionally is. I really wish that Namco would get more quality control on most of their arena fighters. How is it that they have (cult) classics like Gundam VS and Pokken Tournament under their belt as smooth feeling, competitively viable arena fighters, but keep releasing mediocre arena titles? They release more of these than traditional fighters.
@overworkedsalaryman8 ай бұрын
Yea compared to Gundam VS which shares similarities with this game ideas-wise the implementation in this is a decade behind Gundam VS tbh. I feel like the main issue might be silo'ing going on within the company in that they've gotten so big and even within development they have so many different brands and subsidiaries that manpower doesn't transfer well between them anymore. Kinda like how tales is made by their subsidiary if not outsourced at times, Gundam VS is done in house and this JJK game was almost completely outsourced which might've led to coordination and quality control issues as well.

There's absolutely no shortage of kusoge in the modern day. I think I said it once before; I get the feeling the modern climate on the internet is what's really stopping the kusoge list from continuing to be made. Loud fans attacking anyone who even slightly disagrees with their favorite company, special interest groups defending bad games so long as they have a message they agree with, and even game publishers that promote access journalism by refusing to give review copies of games to reviewers who have said anything bad about their games in the past are probably all factors. It sucks but I understand why they wouldn't want to bother making the lists anymore.
@overworkedsalaryman8 ай бұрын
That very well might be the case too yea. That might also explain why there were fewer and fewer games up there from bigger firms as well. While the quality of games have indeed gone up over the years it's also true that there are still many bad games churned out by these companies as well so it could be that they just didn't want to step on certain toes or something in the end.

Say. As a game developer, what are your thoughts on the most popular Japanese arcade game, Gundam Extreme Versus? Do you think it influenced many games like these? Still waiting for the next overseas port…
@overworkedsalaryman5 ай бұрын
Considering that this game is also produced by Bandai (the producer & publisher are Bandai though the dev team itsn't) they might have had a hand in pushing for this as well as it is something that the company is familiar with as a fairly successful title since Versus is something they do have competitive matches for in Japan run by Bandai themselves. That said, I do enjoy versus and think it is a well built game (i bring it up in the gundam evo video too) but it does have some level of issues that make it hard for new players to want to pick up as well I feel like which might be why the community is a fair bit smaller than the rest of the fgc too. That said it has a lot of potential and could be a lot bigger if only Banco released the global version simultaneously with JP instead of having it be one version behind. But yea in terms of influencing this game it might've had a hand but it might have also been influenced by other successful titles like the Naruto ninja storm games so it's hard to pinpoint the exact game that made them choose this but it is a successful style that bandai has experience in so it might've

I'm not a actual gamer, so i have few games to make comparison, but i think that the combat style of the Tales series would suit this game better. I mean, if Bandai was so eager to put their name on this trash, why not borrow the devs they have? It looks like someone made a Jujutsu mod for DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and sold as a completely new game.
@overworkedsalaryman8 ай бұрын
The tales series huh. 🤔 I wonder how that'd go actually. It sounds like it might've been an interesting way to do it perhaps. In a way that'd let them do much bigger scale fights while maybe having it more balanced as well in a way which and would prolly make it more satisfying to go up against waves of mooks as well. As to why they don't just borrow members from there it's in part because Tales is made by their subsidiary so it prolly got silo'ed away to work purely on Tales games which might've made it tough for them to grab people from there to make this game. If their management is anything like Koei's then it's likely that the different brans in the company might be silo'ed enough that such teamwork might've been difficult sadly : /

@@overworkedsalaryman Yeah, I immediately thought of Tales of Berseria when I saw the multiple characters on the arena. The mechanics of controlling multiple characters during the match, switching between one and the other would be very interesting, especially in the fights with Todo and Itadori using the Boogie Woogie.
@overworkedsalaryman8 ай бұрын
@@041able Yea if they managed to pull off real time switching it does feel like it'd have been pretty bad ass. Even if it's paused whenever the player swaps like in earlier tales games it does feel like it'd make the multi-character battle experience feel better if in a 1v1 the player could command and/or swap between the chars in their team to allow for it to be more cohesive as well. Boogie Woogie being as short and implemented the way it was really felt like a waste I really loved that part😭

@@overworkedsalaryman You reminded me of Dhaos fighting in Tales of Phantasia. That was a really bad ass fight. if you paused the game 1s late to manage your characters, Dhaos would combo you to death.

This game feels like quick cash grab. I am not a fan of it's anime either it's a good animation fest but this is one of those ips where I don't like a single character idk why. This is not for me.
@overworkedsalaryman8 ай бұрын
yea it's undestandable since when it comes to shouneny stuff it can be very hit or miss and this one does feel like it has a very different flow and tempo from older IPs like Naruto bleach and one piece. I found it ok. Like the animation made it really fun of a watch kinda like with demon slayer but with both I kinda just get dedazzled by the animation more.
