this is awesome also if you ever get the skills to beat challenging/intense towers i'd recommend trying out citadel of heights and depths, and tower of oblivion, they're both projects i'm most proud of and i consider tower of oblivion my magnum opus so far also 10:39 based

Hello, dover speaking (jtoh staff member) The community as a whole honestly is a work of magic. A lot of people tend to back away from the jtoh community because a lot of us have very formidable qualities and it can be hard at times to find your way around the community and find the people that you’ll stick with. It’s nothing close to flawless. Most of us are teenagers and because we’re online we are more prone to breaking rules as there is no tangible real-world consequence for you other than potentially getting arrested if you’re a bit too attracted to the minors. There are a lot of cliques and sometimes they clash but as long as you stay respectful of everyone and ignore/stay above the drama then only the haters are to blame. I heavily encourage you to come around and say hi, as the community could HEAVILY benefit from newer faces as they forge their own paths through this multifaceted (no this is not chatgpt) game and community. and please don’t get into drama. i’m the one that might have to clean your mess.

My favorite part about JToH is that it’s entirely community made. If you go further into the areas, you’ll encounter huge bossfights, deep stories, giant fortresses, and so much more. But it’s all built around this simple idea of a vertical obby. There’s even a built-in kit of different building blocks for players to explode with. It’s one of the only community-drive games that I enjoy and it has one of the best “level editors” out of any game. Thanks for shedding some light on a game that really deserves to be more popular!
@ThoincTheNugget
@ThoincTheNugget Жыл бұрын
Yeah the customizability of making your own tower is incredible plus you can add extra non kit stuff and other kits to add even more customizability to your tower as long you aren’t gonna submit the tower to jtoh without being a verified builder since only they can add non kit items

Neat video, one thing I do have to mention is: JToH did have quite a big impact on the Roblox community despite its small size. Examples of things which came from KToH/JToH include, the difficult chart obby genre (Tower of difficulty chart essentially being the original difficulty chart obby), A difficulty chart which is used pretty consistently between similar games. Tower of hell genre (KToH predates tower of hell) and a lot of mechanics used in modern obbies took off from JToH (ie. Use of client sided objects such as spinners in obbies.)

Would be cool to see you play this more, so you can see the actual difficulty of some of these towers. would love more videos like these Edit: 9:18 it really depends on which side of the community you decide to explore, but stuff like the jtoh discord are mostly very open and friendly towards never players (there may be a couple bad apples but thats every community)

Difficulty charts aid with gaining consistency in jtoh. It also allows you to just get used to other sorts of gameplay too. Playing really difficult obbies for a while then coming back to the one tower you are struggling on makes it easier for some reason
@Walter_
@Walter_ Жыл бұрын
Yeah i can attest to this. I started off with "beating" difficulty chart obbies (yes, like 90%+ of the ones i play i reach the finish) and it basically made me super consistent at hard jumps before i even started JToH. In the beginning i had more trouble with easy towers than hard ones, since the easy towers usually have confusing parts instead of simple hard jumps.

As someone who's been in the community for almost 5 years at this point, the most fun part for me is tower building itself. It's such a refreshing experience and having ppl play and beat them gives you a whole nother level of satisfaction. Starting out at building can be rough especially with the level of entry but expressing new ideas and concepts through towers is my personal highlight that's kept me going Cant 100% say the community is supportive, it can be kinda shitty sometimes especially on the discord server (from a lot of personal experience, however) but i've meet genuinely great people on there. if you decide to keep pushing, GL on your grind bro

World's Hardest Tower is a tower made by treeknighterr that represents "The World's Hardest Game" it is a modern tower filled with teleporter bricks that are blue similar to the game's blue blocks in the original, it implements it's own custom client object and has a few things a touhou player can breeze through. So I suggest you this tower. It's in JToH white-list and it's a Terrifying, probs on the higher end so good luck..

One moment stuck out to me, when I was just getting into the game. I was in Ring 1. The ring select said something to the effect of "this ring has the most noobs and is hence the most heavily populated." But there was one player in the server I saw that had over 60 towers, and they were trying to beat ToTS. I was really impressed by this guy's tower count (I thought he was like a legend for having more than 20 towers lol) and noob as I was, I found it really motivating and just mind-blowing to spectate them getting far on ToTS, and to even be in the same server with them

Bro thank you so much for making this video. I always thought that JToH is such an underrated game compared to other obbies like tower of hell and i'm happy to see someone actually talking about how great this game is. I can understand why there aren't so many players considering the fact that it's a pretty hardcore game where ur either determined to get very far into the game or where u just beat a couple of easy towers then leave, but the feeling of grinding a tower for so long to finally beat it in the end is so satisfying and nice, knowing ur done with that pain and u never have to go through it again. I had a 33 hour grind in total on a new hardest tower and even though it was basically the most painful experience in jtoh for me and it felt so unfair i still pushed through and finally beat it, being rewarded with such a nice feeling that i actually did it. Btw i stream all my grinds on my channel.

amazing video, really any good JToH video, especially from people who havent played it a lot before are always great to see :D If you are going to continue playing jtoh, you should see some of the later game towers, it goes from simple structures to complicated but still enjoyable jumps and mechanics, whats also fun to see (especially in the zones, since they came later) is how different the towers in all of the areas are, zone 1-2 have still mostly simple towers, but then zone 7-8 have wild towers with many different and unique obstacles. It's truly quite the game especially if you get further and further, feeling more accomplished with every new tower, that's what made me love the game

wanted to give a little bit of backstory, jtoh has had a lot of impact in the obby genre as the difficulty chart obbies are based on the difficulty chart made by jtoh, tower of hell was actually co-created by Obrentune (formerly Kiddiecannon (the owner on the ktoh era)) and jtoh was one of the first actually hard obbies and since then has pushed the difficulty ceiling so much further than back in 2017.

awesome video, you managed to put in words what every jtoh player couldn’t like you said, the main factor that makes jtoh “hit different” is probably the punishment relative to other roblox games. most devs wouldn’t dare explore the concept of punishment, it make player demotivated then leave and dislike or whatever reasoning they have by directly contradicting this, the game managed to make an unforgettable experience. however it does get a bit headache-inducing when towers spam instakill pits (todie) anyways cool video

i made a few towers for this game in its early days (ToSD and ToCN) and i can safely say this game changed my online life significantly, as stupid as that sounds 😭 i met a lot of my friends through this wonderful little game and recently came back to it after 4 something years of not touching it and ive been addicted to it.. the gameplay loop is something a lot of games do but none masters it as much as JToH. the impact on the roblox community as a whole was massive, spawning the difficulty chart obbies you mentioned in the video and just popularizing tower obbies in general the later areas in the game are STUNNING compared to the earlier content, and the grind to get there, if you got the patience and skill, is super fun and engaging!! it's one of the best roblox games out there, even if there's a lot you can complain about like the toxicness of some parts of the community and the obscene skill gap you need to beat some of the harder stuff required to progress, it's a fantastic game with a lot of charm that you can clearly see stems from 2018 to early 2010s roblox culture, the creative freedom and range and themes of the later towers reflect this and i feel is a celebration of roblox as a whole again, there's a lot of issues, as with anything.. i left the community in 2019 after a lot of backlash for a project i was making at the time, feeling unwanted. but now? it feels like the community is more welcoming than ever! sure there's some elitism about "ohh ahah you're not as good as me because i play a hard roblox game and you're not welcome aha" but that's something i rarely see nowadays. while i don't really want to engage as much with the community as i used to in 2018 - 2019, i still owe a good chunk of my friends and online precense to this very game, and i'm incredibly grateful for that in conclusion, if you've never played it, please do! even if it's not your cup of tea, trying something new is always nice, and maybe you'll end up enjoying it and get into it, bettering your skills and getting to the very top. it's games and communities like these that make roblox, to me, roblox. none of that corporate garbage that plagues the site nowadays, a diamond in the rough. it means a lot to small communities like this to get attention from other sources to such a wonderful, influential and extremely difficult game! great video!

the best part of JToH (or worst, depending on your perspective) is that the quality of the game increases the further you go in practically EVERY single way so if you think ring 1 is good you'd be mind-blown by something like zone 8

As someone who played JTOH since some months ago, I can confirm that JTOH is a really nice game. It makes you learn to overcome what you would've considered your limits. Before JTOH, I thought I was skilled and I was getting bored by the new recent obbies (which is why I played mostly PVP games back then), but now with JTOH, I learned how to truly become more skilled at obbies and that changed my perception of obbies as a whole. Even though I might sometimes complain about some towers being a bit hard or punishing (like Tower of Overcoming Hatred (ToOH) in ring 2), it still is an excellent games that everyone should at least try once.

as someone who's beaten hundreds of towers within the game and in its many varied fangames i feel like i've lost this feel somewhere along the way. Thanks for reminding me what keeps me here - the satisfaction, the challenge and most importantly, the friends i met along the way. If you get to a point where you are able to complete intense towers and above, I'd really recommend taking a dive into the diverse fangames of jtoh, because a lot of them are also really great.

God I love this game so much there are so many experiences that I wouldn’t have had if it weren’t for this game and so many people I wouldn’t have met, which is both a good and bad thing but mainly good. Also yes a lot of jtoh players do play games like GD, Osu, and touhou like ik a lot of people who quit jtoh to play similar games like that. One of those people is Aetrna who has done a good bit for the jtoh/obby community such as verify Tower of glory, and made a couple of citadel of void floor this was a while back though when the skill ceiling wasn’t as high, but he was lowkey really good for his time.

love the video! i absolutely agree with everything said, iv been playing jtoh since early 2019 and i have yet to experience another game that gives the same experience, and i know what you mean by the game feeling uniquely roblox. jtoh's community and the game itself has really impacted me and there isint any other game that means the same to me, i remember when i beat tower of frightening nightmares after over 2 years of originally grinding it, thats the 2nd time iv ever cried while playing a video game (1st being when i beat tower of icy blizzards), and without the community i *LITERALLY* wouldint be the same as i am today, because i met someone in jtoh who actually changed my life (im not joking) anyways sorry for the rant lol i like your content keep up the amazing work!

Hey this is a REALLY REALLY awesome video and I'm pleasured to watch someone talking about a game which i love and have been playing for almost 5 years(look at my channel) and how well made it is for such a small community., however I have to mention one thing I do think that the first rings in the game are the most friendly part of the community but as you progress trough the game you realize that the players get more toxic idk why, as an example (from personal experience) lets say you beat a soul crushing tower which like only 0.01% of players do beat, they try to belittle your win criticizing the time you took or saying that that tower is ez just because they are better than you (ESPECIALY on the jtoh server) and yes most of the players from jtoh play gd we love to suffer.

jtoh is really one of a kind. I found it around mid 2017 through friend activity and quickly fell in love with the game. It was a nice break from the unbeleiveably easy 100 stage rainbow fun obbies that i was used to. the difficulty was absolutley enraging at times but something about it was so charming. I sorta grew up on jtoh, playing for 5 years. the community was great and the game was too. seeing the game evolve from ToFJ to absolute masterpeices like the new zones was really a treat. honestly its a game that I truly love and can never really leave. and that's incredible, especially for a roblox game. thanks to the devs and community for the half-decade worth of memories and good times. -random mobile ex-roblox player

The first time I started playing jtoh (back in Covid, like 2020 - 2021) it seemed extremely welcoming, different and fun. It has been a few years now and I have achieved over 200 towers and still love to play it on and off. I agree that the feeling it just is different, it just has a warm spot for me. It’s almost nostalgic, maybe because of the friends I’ve made from it, the rage, the accomplishment, letdowns, and happiness. After about 3 years now though I’ve stopped playing many video games and started focusing on other things, but I still always manage to end up back in there, playing another soul crushing and having fun.

Jtoh is in its majority community based, 90% of the towers are built by non devs, the towes that are added to areas are just curated by devs to provide a good experience to the players. Ive always wanted to make a video like this but i never found the motivation to do so, i dont put it lightly when i say that this game probably changed the course of my life for the better and i always dreamed of conveying those emotions into a video thats like 1-2 hours long but i never really did find the motivation to do so. You did get why this game is special for so many people though, although i kinda hoped that you talked more about the rest of the game and its achievements, i still found this video great!(also why are you doing wraps like that dude its litteraly the harder way to do the wth)

sc victor here ; jtoh is alot grind wise, but you'd get used to it when you beat one of your first challenging tower. also, it is kinda fun when you get used to it, but i'd probably recommend you to atleast try the classic towers first ; such as tower of screen punching in ring 1, also in my eyes, jtoh is kinda a stressful game, but it isn't that bad when you realize it.

So much of this video is amazing, but you should definitely look into the more newer masterpieces made. Stuff that is a whole lot less rough around the edges. Stuff like Tower of Loud 9, Tower of Virulent Sojourn, Citadel of Pyramid Escapades, Tower of a Tetronimo Disaster to name a few (Some of these are located in fangames of Juke's, but I'd recommend watching videos if you want to witness them for yourself, as these tend to be on the harder side, but showcase a whole lot more polish. Stuff like Tower of Oblivion represents this classic style, more rough around the edges, but is executed to perfection.

I LOVE JTOH!!! Really like the video but ill just say these things - the farther you go for the game the less "Classic or Basic" towers there will be (literally just watch any youtube video thats just Ring 9 or Zone 4 towers and above) the standards for Towers keeps hitting its highs and Curators for the Towers that's made for the game keeps it in order though it may look harsh when the tower dosent pass they're just mainly giving a lesson to what mistakes you've made for a Tower and they even tell it too - the community well not too welcoming though not to discourage it's still fun if you get to really know some but depends -on the first thing i said about standards getting higher just experience Towers and Steeples on Garden of Eeshöl (GoE) and you'll see how vastly different it is compared to the other Rings due to it being made a later date But that's all I can currently say since its early in the morning but im glad to answer if you'd ask anything about JToH since im one of the brainrots of it

9:06 i wish other things the harder the game gets, the worse it gets past a certain point. you may know about the "soul crushing difficulties," being insane and above. most soul crushing towers... aren't well made. insane is getting out of that problem... but the rest....... terrifying (the cyan difficulty) has it the worst, with the most enjoyable terrifying overall being in ring 4. and that terrifying is overhated, but it makes sense why. also, the later areas are also losing the charm of the game. zone 8 felt mostly the same, although i will admit it has the most good rem+s of any area. all the remorseless towers are good, the insane and catastrophic towers are good. however, every tower below that feels the same. same gameplay style, similar decoration. its gotten to the point where my favorite catastrophic towers are outside of jtoh (Tower of Cataclysmic Layers and Tower of Pulsating Ambitions). I've been trying to do hard towers for a while, i barely have any towers left and i sightread ToMM (probably shouldn't have done that) and i feel like im having less fun the more i play. im currently grinding ToBF, and it might be the hardest tower i will ever do because every other tower at that difficulty range... just ignores enjoyment. anyways i may have went a bit off track. uh yeah woohoo jtoh yay
