Been using this machine for over 10 years now and I really love it, because it survive to many kind of material. Power still good, light never changed. The only thing that always broke on this one is the bobin holder, who seems to always come out and not align well... in 10 years its the 3rd time happening, it's not that bad, considering it's when I use it on weird material like leather, fur, sequin or stretch. I found this video in hope it could fix the problem of my own machine without bringing it to repair/maintenance because i'm in a rush. It was a fun video! Thank you for it. It was nice seeing the stats and capability of my sewing machine. I do think after 10 years, it's getting outdated and there is more fancy ones out there. But I will still keep it to do the hard job, because it's full of surprise and never disapointed me.

The thicker the fabric and larger the needle : thicker thread and increase stitch length. Check out your own jeans to get an idea of thread weight and stitch length. Also, you can change the presser foot to a walking foot.

It would be very interesting to see a vintage 158-1941 Kenmore do this test. I'd be willing to bet that the Kenmore would put any modern plastic machine to shame. I own several vintage Kenmores, and they are incredible.

Good enough for home sewer, not for someone who crafts to sell volumes . Good starting price point. I still have my singer from 30 years ago. But I don’t use it weekly. Covid is why it’s in my dining room table ....making masks for family and friends. Other than that it was used for repairing clothes, making kids clothing , sew a curtain. I still prefer old machines where there wasn’t so many plastic parts. Thanks for the in depth review !

Can I ask why you believe that it wouldn’t be good for someone who crafts to sell? Any particular reason you’re saying that? Thanks.

Yay Juki, I have a Juki Serger it doe's kick but, the only wrong with it is the user as with all my machines, and I have quite a few as I see that you do do too. I'm willing to give them to you.

I've had mine just 2 years. Every thing was great until I decided to make a set of pleated drapery. 3 fold pleats were a bit much so I went with 2 fold pleats and was nearly finished when things took a turn for the worst. So, I stopped, cleaned and oiled, replaced needle, but the needle would not pick up the bobbin thread. Tried several other needles, bought new needles, bought new bobbin shuttle. still didn't work. I found a repair manual on line. downloaded and printed . It has step by step instructions with photos. I tried every adjustment in the book , but I cannot get that bobbin thread to pick up. Looked for a repair shop. none in my City I would have to take the machine 35 miles to another City . I've never been without a machine before, I could have a mental break down! Just kidding, I wouldn't do that. What am I missing here? I don't know what to try next.

I’m a Juki dealer and repair man for all types. Little bit unfair to expect a base line model to be stitching multiple leather, there are other Jukis for that. I would say that repair and service wise jukis are easier and cheaper to work on. I have never had a Juki returned through failure in 14 years! The best guide to machine acceptability by the public is to see how many are on eBay etc. The ‘big name’ machines are losing their reputation because of dependency on electronics and gimmicks, and I am seeing more failures with them. But, hey ho, might just be what’s coming in to me.

How on earth do you get the bobbin case out to clean it! ?
@timgidney3189
@timgidney3189 Жыл бұрын
@@lealangston5979 remove the needle plate and the bobbin case is the black item. If you take out your bobbin you should be able to grab the case. Clean out all your fluff, small dab of oil in centre of race- not the case- and reassemble. Check for needle strikes in the case and if any, smooth out. Make sure bobbin case doesn’t revolve in machine, there is a lug at 4 o’clock that stops this. Replace plate and hand wheel the needle up and down to check it’s all together correctly. Now’s the time to fit a new needle! Good luck.

Thank you for this in-depth review and for showing the inside workings, was very informative. Would be interesting to take a couple of machines in the same price range and compare them (apples with apples) against each other. I also think it is important to point out that this machine is really an entry level domestic machine, not for business purposes. It would be for a child or a beginner sewer. So if using for this purpose the machine would be more than fine. If wanting to do heavier material or spend hours and hours on your machine buy a machine designed for that, less headaches. In other words buy the right tools for the right job.
