I have been sewing on my Juki 562 (small bobbin) for about 30 years now. An incredible machine and a great video. I am always learning.
@jenngoodger20367 жыл бұрын
I believe the long slot on the needle should go on the outside (left) and should be threaded from left to right. The 'half moon' cutout on the other side of the needle should be towards the bobbin. That's how all industrial machines I've worked on are set up, and other videos of the LU 563 show it this way.
@pastaman7775 жыл бұрын
The needle was absolutely inserted incorrectly early in the video. The long groove faces left and the “scarf”, the notch above the eye of the needle, faces right. If the needle is inserted backwards, the tip of the hook will hit the needle as it rotates around and cause a burr on the hook. It will also make the thread shred and break.
@jimbobxcityguy53383 жыл бұрын
Couldn't see it in the video if that is true. He might of said it wrong and put the needle in right. The pressor foot he stated is actually the treadle. Or foot treadle. The pressure foot as stated by others is the rear foot that just goes up and down. Weird this guy. Either hasn't been taught right or was forgetful etc.

I cannot believe you told everyone to put the needle in BACKWARDS. The kerf in the needle matches the point of the hook, which is on the bobbin side. That "long slot" is for catching the thread as you slide it down toward the Eye of the needle, from left to right.
@granstrachan38526 жыл бұрын
William Carr maybe you should go back and read your manual! The flat side of the needle faces left so that the set screw can tighten against it. I believe it is page 6 line 6 of the manual. No your facts before you make stupid public comments!

@@granstrachan3852 Sorry to tell ya bud, but yeah, that needle is the wrong way around. The cut out is so the hook on the bobbin shuttle, doesn't make contact with the needle, as it passes the needle and catches the top thread. Will still sew like that but sounds fucking horrible. I purchased a juki LI 563 and the needle was already in it. Position of it was the opposite of how you said to install it and it sewed great. Unfortunately I broke my first needle and I thought I’ll install the new one the way you explained. I did and when I started sewing a sample vinyl, somehow it did not catch the bobbin thread. I reinstalled it the way I had it and it worked fine. My comment is not to correct you, but rather want you to explain if you can why should it be “one way and not the other” I only have about three hours of sewing all my life, but I did manage to repair my boat canvas. Overall, video is great.

Probably due to the needle being installed incorrectly in this video....as the incorrect way that the teacher tells you to install the needle. This Will certainly cause the hook point to crash repeatedly into the non scarf side (the grooved side which doesn’t have the scarf cutout for the hook point to clear the needle) of the incorrectly installed needle. Immediately remove the needle and install it with the scarf towards the bobbin side (right side) and see if that choppiness goes away. If you ran this way for anytime... I would replace the needle for sure and if problems like broken thread, or thread shredding, I would replace the hook with an original equipment one. Scarf towards hook....every time.

As said before......needle install completely backwards. Doing this and sewing on a correctly timed machine and you’ll need to replace the needle at least, and possibly the hook. If anyone doubts me or others....look up how to time the hook and needle in maintenance manual...or look at others posting the procedure on youtube. You will see that the hook passes through the scarf cutout just above the eye on the upward stroke of the needle bar. If you do it this knuckleheads way, and it’s timed correctly, you’ll likely have your hook repeatedly crashing into the grooved side of your needle causing undue damage to to needle and hook. The lesson is only as good as the teacher......and I pity those who learn from this teacher.
