Creating a Capsule Wardrobe I'm Obsessed with for Winter/Spring

This was a fun video to watch! As a fellow PNWer who uses capsule wardrobes, next time you might find it easier to make one for 3 instead of six months. For me, four capsules that encompass Dec/Jan/Feb, March/April/May, June/July/Aug, and Sep/Oct/Nov works best because PNW weather patterns in those months are most similar, and by the end of three months I’m usually ready to swap in different pieces to keep things interesting anyway. I usually pin a bunch of looks that fit the upcoming season, then ask myself if I will actually have an opportunity to wear said outfit and whether the outfit would actually work for my body. If not, I delete the pin and form a shopping list from the remaining pins. Hope you have fun with your capsule!

Thank you for showing your process on building your capsule wardrobe. It was so helpful. I have bought clothes for a capsule wardrobe in the past and failed because I didn’t put as much thought into how it fit me or my style but just that it “checked” a box for a need in the capsule but didn’t actually work for me in reality.

Hi! Your videos are excellent, you are so comfortable and fun! I do have a question… I understand that solid colors are a classy and easy look to put together, but sometimes would like to incorporate a small patterned blouse with some color, or a plaid pant for example, to liven up an outfit. Can you consider adding a video with your thoughts on mixing in some patterns and prints to the short waisted picture? Thanks!

I recently found your videos, and I truly appreciate how you deliver your content! I am 63 years young and have always known I am "petite" in my height at 5'2" (or less). I am surprised to find that I am pretty much balanced proportionally, however I have a similar issue as you. My hips and my ribs are virtually on top of each other with no true space in between them, and I have a larger bust. Your tips on proportions and styling are very helpful. I LOVE how you are creating an "inspired" capsule wardrobe, but you are using pieces that you own or know will work for YOUR body!

I have tried to create a capsule wardrobe, but I feel like I'm wearing the same things over and over. I need more variety, I just can't do 12 pieces total! I think the last time I tried I had over 20 too. Maybe I will try again, but focus the capsule on just one category of my life, like weekend wear. I work from home, no video, so I live in loungewear 😁

A capsule wardrobe does not have to have a set amount of pieces - it does not have to be minimal, you can have as many pieces as you want. The whole theory of the capsule wardrobe is, that all items can be mixed and matched and each piece will go with at least a certain percentage of the other items in your wardrobe. Definition : a collection of essential items of clothing that would not go out of fashion, and therefore could be worn for multiple seasons.

I don't plan on deleting my board. I'll start a new one for summer and then next year for winter, I might use this one as inspiration. I guess it depends on how much my style evolves!

Oh, later you said they were taupe. I’ve always thought of beige as a specific, light tan/fawn colour . Can in include camel and taupe now? Has it become an umbrella for all those colours and tones we consider neutrals?

Haha I think it can when talking generally. I want some light beige items too but since I already have some that work, it’s not at the top of my shopping list. I try to be selective so that I can buy a few quality pieces rather than lots of inexpensive ones. So I still might! We’ll see 😄

Sorry lovely Jules but Pinterest seems to have swallowed you up! It took you a MONTH to do this? I am sure you could have done it in a day or two as you're already so knowledgeable and your style is simple, please don't let the rabbit hole stress you out and waste valuable lifetime! You look lovely and you know what you like and what suits you so I don't think you needed to get into this very long process. Inspiration can often come when you're not looking and from unexpected sources.
