I love her characteristic sassy-ness. The way she whips up her bow at the end of a phrase. She's always completely in control.
@violintegral2 жыл бұрын
Lol I always liked how Heifetz whips his bow to the right at the end of a strong phrase (well when he ends it on a downbow, to be exact). It offers a very emphatic, resolute, intense, and clear finish.

I like also the asian older guy on youtube, he played it nicely too....But he is little guy (with little hands) and I thought that after the concerto the violinist will need some neck massage.....the hand movements are so strong and fast. She will probably need neck and shoulders massage too, but she probably does some stretching before the concert.

Fischer does a really great job of this. I have it favourited. I've been listening to this concerto since I was a nipper and I still love it. When I read about the "experts" saying that Dvorak "wrote it because he had to write a violin concerto" and that it isn't up to the standard of his other work are just full of it. It is certainly one of the longest violin concertos and if Dvorak were doing it as a throwaway exercise in conforming to some unstated standard, then he spent an unusually large amount of time doing it! The third movement is fantastic both from the soloist and the orchestra perspectives. A real workout for the soloist, particularly the last passage. Bravo, Julia!
@jansnauwaert17855 жыл бұрын
The concerto *as a whole* is fantastic. As the British commentator says in the introduction, Julia Fischer said that it has the most beautiful beginning of ALL violin concertos. I think that is true. A masterpiece.
@alaalfa88395 жыл бұрын
Dvořák´s great grandson Jozef Suk also played very well tghis concerto. I am not expert but he played it with very clear tune....Probably because he used stradivary violins and some other violin of 18 century. or the recording was very clearly recorded..Or the stradivary make such nice tune...Its on youtube. But you are right she is great violinist. description under video of this violin concerto.... "Suk plays on rare instruments built by Antonio Stradivari (1729), Giuseppe Guarneri "del Gesu" (1744) and Giovanni Battista Guadagnini (1758). Josef Suk has had a long and distinguished career in the recording studio, winning the Grand Prix du Disqueno less then six times as well as the Wiener Floetenuhr Prize and the Edison Prize."

Very lovely! I happened to sit next to a young Julia many years ago as she was traveling on her first solo flight without her mother or manager. She was about to perform at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago and was rehearsing this very piece, running through the fingerings on her forearm. When we landed, I handed her her Stradivarius from the overhead bin--I'm sure the only time I will hold one. We stayed in touch briefly in email. She was utterly charming, and I'm delighted to see how she continues to shine.
