Not only did we end slavery,which still goes on in Africa to this day, but we paid to buy the freedom of slaves which was a huge cost to this country. A cost that we only finished paying for in 2015, so anyone who has paid tax before that date has paid for the freedom of those slaves. Why does no one ever mention to the reparation whingers that Africans were capturing and selling their own people to Muslim Arabs centuries before the British or Americans ever bought any. We ended slavery and paid for it with a fortune in money and the lives of our sailors. Surely it is the UK that is deserving of reparations from Africans for our sacrifice.

Slavery was bad, yes, but giving people money for "suffering " things that they never endured in the first place is ludicrous. Nobody should have to answer for their ancestors misdeeds, especially when everybody who committed these acts and the victims have all been dead and gone for hundreds of years. People just looking for free handouts and excuses as well as people to blame for their current problems, just using their ancestors for it all, it's despicable. HISTORY OUGHT TO BE FACTUAL, and narrated fairly----yes! as a person of African heritage I can accept a discourse on Africans selling other Africans into slavery, that is common knowledge given that African societies did not have concept of mass incarcerations or prison colonies and gulags; so the idea of RETRIBUTIVE servitude was already there, but a cruel idea like CHATTEL slavery, NO! .... But then I DO NOT understand why we cannot have a similar discourse on the German Nuremberg Laws of 1935; and how Germany imposed those laws across defeated and surrendered Europe. And how the Nuremberg Laws distorted who was and wasn't a Jew by blood. Meaning that some served in one form or another for the state....
