Well in fairness, it was George Washington himself who decided on the title "Mr President" because he wanted to convey humility and highlight the fact that the president serves at the pleasure of the people. He intentionally chose a simple "Mister" to differentiate the office of the presidency from monarchies. Madame President does sound good though doesn't it?
