Julia Mood Peterkin is my third cousin, I think three times removed. Her mother was an Archer, as was my great-great-grandmother Martha Archer Sawyer. Her book Scarlet Sister Mary was staged as a Broadway play but was an abject failure, probably due to the cast all being white actors in blackface. The person who wrote the play was also from South Carolina - actor and writer Daniel Reed, whose family lived in Columbia.
