Not sure if you've fixed the issues with the static yet but if not, one thing to check s the camera settings. See if your camera has automatic gain control, that can cause the "spikes" when it has trouble seeing the mic input.

Hi! I have the same camera and microphone and i had this issue too. I figured out it’s because I was too close to the wifi router. For some reason that interferes with the mic. There’s nothing wrong with your camera or mic, it just might be certain areas of the house where you get closer to the wifi that you can hear it! Hope that helps!

I have that same mic and have not had those issues and it's a few years old. I think you should send it back because it could be defective. I also have the Rode wireless Go mic and really like it a lot.

The mic is a connection issue! It might be you jack input on your camera is dusty (hopefully not faulty) or you have a faulty wire and they should replace that for free

To fix you mic you can do something. First that sound is wind. I know it sounds weird but because there is no wind in a house but that is what it is (maybe your camera is shaking). You can try putting on the mic cover. It is a pop cover and is supposed to stop wind. If this doesn't help then it is broken and you should return it. For voiceovers I find the cover to make it worse though. Hopefully this is helpful!

Try unplugging it and plugging it in then make sure you have a wind guard To reduce static and try maybe lowering or higher in your volume on your camera to help with the staticMake sure when you plug it in the Grayside goes into the camera and the black one goes into the microphone I hope this helps

Mic noise: Check that the auto gain on your camera is off. This will require you to do a little more adjusting to the gain sensitivity on the camera and on your Rode microphone. If this doesn’t work check that the cables on both ends of the mic to camera a seated firmly in their sockets. If none of this fixes the issue get the proper cable and hook the microphone to your iPhone or iPad and record some audio on it to see if the crackle is captured that way. If it is your mic has an issue and you will need to replace it. I personally feel that it’s the gain Settings on the camera and/or microphone, but not being able to see how things are setup it’s hard to say with 100% guarantee. I hope this helps.
