LYRICS:
Hit the knee - ow - heck, they're ready
S.O.N.'s SAT, how magenta are you?
Daddy, I owe Doc Luke a Mercedes
Barely up and I'm looking for jobs.
Yup, they been at your house already
Who, me? Sad? I'm last to hear
Yeah, they been at your house already
Who me? Fuck, I'm last to hear.
What a real woman won't mind
But don't be weird with me
I won't be weird with you
But I wanna be weird my way
It won't be my way
American always our way
What can I say?
In the band I put the key, cause I did my time
What can I say?
Your memory's no good, leave your clothes on
Our bodies crave a lot of things that end in loss
Don't try and turn this into something else,
Too late to change your mind this time and hit eject
Now that I'm here
I been wasting half my life
Right here is where my friends they used to live
Hit the knee - ow - heck, they're ready
S.O.N.'s SAT, how magenta are you?
Daddy, I owe Doc Luke a Mercedes
Barely up and I'm looking for jobs.
Who, me? Sad? I'm last to hear
Yeah, they been at your house already. Who the fuck?
I want my money back
That wasn't fun.
The bricks and the gravel and the mud and the blood
Another wild teenager in search of success, welcome to the jewel of the modified west
Now that I'm here, o-o-oh
I've been wasting half my life
Right here is where my friends they used to live...
-
I don't care anymore
I'd don't dare anymore.
Now that I'm here, where my friends they used to live
I don't care anymore, I'd dare anymore
That’s how they know, that's how they know,
"Calm down"
That's what they say, that's how they know

@@greenstartv6494 I think he's referring to Julian's regretful relationship with his father and how he did things (time and money related) for his father's sake. This being a large influence in a lot of his compositions from Tyranny and his stuff with The Strokes. Human Sadness is entirely based on this relationship and the regret of how things turned out by the time of his father's death, for example. When it Started is influenced by his father too (as an example from the strokes). There's plenty more, but you'll have to search it up on your own :)

@@JimNotCarrey okay buy his dad was super rich so idk how julian would ask him for his money back when julian was the one who borrowed money from his dad for music classes at five towns college, i thought he maybe referring to his record label that the strokes were signed with at first.

I like the patterns, the skeleton and especially the radio at the end with the sound vibrating from it. That part is cool. Thank you, I enjoyed it. I love Tyranny and I cant wait to see what else y'all do together. All the songs are my fav but this song and Xerox are 2 of my favorite songs from the album. Anagnorosis: the sense, through thrill of recognition, of having just caught up with a truth that was always waiting for you. -> Or, what I felt upon first hearing Dare I Care, that indescribable melodic bridge before and alongside “Now that I’m here...” Sense of something inexorable at hand. Drang nach dem absoluten: “the drive towards the absolute”, or, the pushing and pushing of ideas until they reach what can then seem to reach an unavoidable, even seemingly predetermined end point. -> Or, *that* sound in Dare I Care’s chorus. A skeletal stag in flight, memories on a reel alongside you. How after my dad’s death, I’d retch when I tried to talk about it. Words caught in the throat, spasms of indignation and pain. Then, the lesson of sound, how the Voidz album Tyranny was, in part, a way for Julian Casablancas to cope with the death of his own dad. Sing when you don’t know how to say it. Some kind of soothing. Then, this take by Karen O to Vice on Jules and The Voidz. “I’ve got to say, it was definitely a transcendent experience. It reminded me of when I went to see Brian Wilson perform Smile. It felt like you were jumping into the mind of some mad genius’s symphony. The ordered chaos of what’s going on alongside his raw emotion-which elevates it to this whole other level-it felt like he really found himself in this record and the way he presented it. Like there was some catharsis that happened and that’s what I was watching. It all made sense after seeing it live, something I felt went really underappreciated to be honest. It felt like watching history in the making. I felt so high after it.” KO knows, man. She always knows. Remember your heroes. What I owe you, J.C., is beyond evaluation.

I met Julian and The Voidz twice. One of the times, I had told Jeff about the similarity between this song and One Way Trigger. He said he was somewhat familiar with the song, so he knew what i was talking about. I asked him if the reference was intentional or not, and he said no, it was a coincidence because he said Jacob wrote that riff. And he wasn't aware of One Way Trigger to his knowledge. Just an interesting tidbit.
