The chorus is so emotionally powerful! And all the progressive building sounds and ryhthms are awesome. The moment Jules yells "yes I know" (at 4:30) and the following riffs make me wanna cry.

It took me a long time to like this album, even as a die-hard fan of The Strokes and Julians first solo album. I must say that this album is highly underrated. It's a true masterpiece if u just really listen to it and get used to the originality and the "weridness" i guess.

Wholeheartedly agree with you, it's only after a couple of years of re-listening that I am able to properly appreciate these masterful pieces of work The Voidz have produced!!! It's like I wasn't able to listen and fully enjoy because it was too alien to my ears, but as I listen more and more and time passes it feels like I am able to unwrap layer by layer what is going on behind all the "noise"...when the music gets better with time you know you've found something special.

Idk why but I’ve always like the voidz over the strokes, ig it’s the raw texture it they keep, I feel like they’re right down the hall and I can feel the power have when they play certain parts can’t stop playing it on repeat, I guess the symbolism helps too

This is instrumentally stunning! Can't stop repeating it. Definitely my favourite from the album or maybe my playlist. Great intro, great pace/parts transitions, awesome guitar/bassline (wich reminds me a little bit of Joy Division) and drums, fierce vocals from Casablancas, sensationnal synth/keys sounds, excellent little solo at 1:56. Just a perfect tune.

+Alican Parlak Yeah, I hear a bunch of JD as well - this genre is called post-punk revival, which is a present day of post-punk. :) Agreed on everything else, too! I hate it how some people downrate this album simply because it's not Is This It, as they did with other JC-related albums.

One of my two biggest favs o nthe album, the other one being Eagles. Much like the whole album, these tracks are dark, post-punk-revivalish, while some might recall a French version of post-punk such as coldwave. But unlike much of his popular peers, Julian writes post-punk that intrigues, is catchy at the same time as being thought- and emotion-provoking. that's why he's still the king. Such a shame that some people don't learn what actually great is.

I don't think that those "pitchforks" he talks about here are just average pitchforks. I think he's talking about Pitchfork who had targeted him since First Impressions of Earth. Guess what? Pitchwork's review of this album too is really bad.

@patchlate7 жыл бұрын
pretty annoying how Pitchfork keeps comparing The Strokes to The Voidz even though they're clearly different

Pitchfork's "review" of Jet's album Shine On remains, for me, one of the funniest takes I've ever seen-chiefly because it doesn't take itself seriously. Plus, that album fucking sucks. Sadly, that's the exception to the rule. The other 99 percent of numbered album reviews on that site are just clickbait. And when a site is encouraged to comment upon works of art in ways that will maximize site traffic...there's something wrong with the equation.
