The jazz-guitar great details his Nachocaster T-style that has a secret under the hood.
While on tour for the album, Lage invited PG’s John Bohlinger to the soundcheck before his show at Brooklyn Bowl inn Nashville to share his insights into why he likes a straightforward rig and “honest” tone. In the interview, Lage elaborates on his three main guitars (his Nachocaster, Collings signature, and ’55 Les Paul), explains why he prefers low volume on his amps, and offers a remarkably brief tour of his pedalboard.

A person who's never had an office job is a different kind of human. God bless Julian and all those gentle souls who have never bothered with the corporate world.

The guy is a legend, even has that almost poppy fueled Swagger that the jazz players in the 50s had! The guy is so calm and easygoing, and has some weird mannerisms, and he plays jazz?! Maybe something is taking him to that higher total modal plane

I played a Nachocaster in NYC a few months back - just an amazing instrument. Impeccable fretwork, nice beefy but comfortable neck…everything about it was right.

I saw Julian on this show in Nashville - this was recorded in Dec. I had the good fortune of attending a "master class" meet and greet before the show - Julian is a humble really great human being and genuine --- I was surprised at how seriously he took inspiring those of us in the "guitar community" to create our supportive tribe - he's really on another level and can go deep on about any topic. Further, Julian is without question one of the best guitarists alive right now - go see him!!! (And his band is similarly amazing). Also, a shout out to John for getting the best players on his show - Mr. Bohlinger knows his stuff- thanks, John! P.S. I contacted Nacho in Spain about six months ago re: a custom made tele - it's about a year or so wait and the price is not cheap! some day ... lol!

So is it p90? Or single coil in a p90case?

It’s an Ellisonic. Ron Ellis’ take on a Dearmond Dynasonic. Both that and the P90 are single coil pickups.
