@Laurel - Cynthia was just another girlfriend he could have as their local fame had created a situation they could pick and choose from. And he got her pregnant. Brian arranged a quiet and quick marriage in August 1962, as you have to remember that would have been a huge scandal, which they didn't need as they were trying to go big and have this clean-cut image. Paul had several like that, too, but he denied getting them pregnant and the organization was able to pay them off. So John had no love for Cynthia really. Sometimes you wonder if John didn't consider both of them as an unfair burden that he couldn't get rid of. Clearly, John hadn't grown up, and being rich, felt he didn't have to. With the death of Brian Epstein in August 1967, there was no one to tell John "no" and he did whatever he wanted to do, which included dumping the noose around his neck.

It is for Julian, at least it is dedicated to him. Paul himself told so, why would he lie about it? He was on his way to visit Weybridge right after the separation and Paul had this inspiration to write a song for the kid. When he got there it was almost ready. And he told them it was for Julian. It's true John never believed on it. He always thought it was for him for the reason you said. However, I heard once 'her' in the song is not a woman. It it music! As you know there is something called poetical license. It would not sound so good to sing " you have found it". He knew Julian had already showed interest in music. And he meant the music could heal his soul. That is why he said "take a sad song and make it better". So, "you have found music, now go and get music in your life. The minute you let music under your skin then you'll begin to make it better. It may not be the right explanation, as I didn't hear it from anybody from his inner circle, but the moment I heard about it I found it logical. It made sense to me.

John Lennon never abandoned Julian. That's a myth and I don't know why people persist with that myth. You will see plenty of pics of John in the 60's with Julian, even in that whirlwind time (Julian was born at the beginning of Beatlemania in 1963). When John moved to New York in the early 70's with Yoko he obviously couldn't see Julian as much as he wanted to but there are plenty of examples of John keeping in touch with his first born. 'hi Julian' on the 'Stand by Me' video, Julian playing drums on 'Walls and Bridges'. He took Julian on the sset of 'Happy Days'. It wasn't ideal that father was on one side of the Atlantic and son on the other side but it was never total abandonment. After John left us, Julian was quite happy to deputise for his old man on the Chuck Berry 60th birthday celebration in the mid '80's. If Julian had felt abandoned, why would he do that? As for the real beautiful boy comment, ...grow up,..Julian and Sean are very close, that's probably two of John's beautiful boys wouldn't you say?

Eh, Sean seems like a great guy too now. A recent interview for John's 80th birthday really reflects the lovely bond they share.

Based on what I read in Cynthia Lennon's book, the way he was received by Yoko and shown where his father had died was horrific for a 17 year old to take in. I doubt I could have handled being shown my fathers blood on the steps of the apartment building and being told "here is where your father died".

I imagine that he's spent a very long, difficult time reconciling his father's behavior, so unlike his mother's. But, I got the vibe that's he's completely free from John's demons. He was loved and supported by a nuclear family. John was a shadow, and he's finally comfortable with that reality. He's a lovely man, indeed.
@movid9 ай бұрын
😊😊😮😅 this comment is pure nonsense... 🐇 Very few people had John's talent... or a small percentage of his gifts 😅 Paul McCartney certainly is on the same level. Yes for the grace, but Julian, whose a lovely person 💟 would certainly NOT compare himself to his father. ..💭

I met Julian in 1991 at Sharkey's Pool Hall in the Dallas suburbs, where he was interviewed and performed during Happy Hour! He was a wild child back then, running in and out the front door of the pool hall, laughing and joking around! I love his music. I'm a song writer, guitarist, and producer and can relate to the love of creating songs that people can really relate to and enjoy. Back in the 80's, I also had the pleasure of hanging out in Liverpool with Mike McCartney (Paul's brother from the band, Scaffold), Allan Williams (Beatles 1st manager), Pete Best (The Beatles' 1st drummer) and his mom, and Father Mackenzie (Eleanore Rigby fame). Allan Williams invited me to join him and his girl friend to ride back to London on the train the next day and I told him, "Thanks, I wish I could, but I just arrived in Liverpool to visit some friends of mine." I heard Allan died in December 2016. In retrospect, I wish I kept in touch with him. He told me he had a clothing store in London. I have these Beatle people on 8mm film that I need to edit and put on facebook and youtube as soon as I find the tapes! Ha!
