Only lately I did some research on Julian Lennon. Only heard 'Stick Around' several times in late 80-es, did expect that he sounded like John but he did not, but thanks to KZbin I know the guy is more than his father's shadow. A very decent man he is, amazing person.

Julian’s actually got a very good voice which seems to be somewhat like his father’s and very importantly he’s likeable. But people haven’t listened to him. And that’s because of his father. But why doesn’t Paul McCartney team up with Him and give him a helping hand. Paul’s support of him would overcome the problem of him being the son of the great John Lennon. If they wrote a few songs together and Paul took him on the road and gave a visible blessing to Julian his career would take off.
@paulwilfridhunt5 жыл бұрын
Running Bear Yes I don’t disagree with you but the reason why Julian hasn’t cracked it is because of his father. It’s a bit like Bing Crosby’s son who by the way had a fabulous voice too and could have been great if he only got a wee bit of help. If Frank Sinatra did some stuff with Him it would have made all the difference. The reason why Julian hasn’t struck a chord with the public as much as he should have is because they are viewing him as second best and that’s making them feel unimportant. But if Paul supported Julian by doing some duets with him and collaborating with some song writing then the public would conclude that Paul thinks Julian is a great talent and that would make them feel important and then he would catch on. Yes Julian can make his own way but this is just about smoothing out the bumps, isn’t it. People go into their buying frame of mind when they feel a bit special or important. I am surprised that Paul hasn’t initiated getting alongside Julian in this manner. People would love him for it and they’d also love Julian. But hey people got to do what people got to do. I get that. However all that aside if this strategy was implemented it would work.
@paulwilfridhunt5 жыл бұрын
Running Bear In life we all want to achieve, don’t we. That’s our mojo. And that’s an interesting story in itself. But if a man becomes exceptionally great, his sons will be prevented by that high level of greatness. Most sons realise that they can supersede their fathers if only they could get the chance to become great enough. And whilst they might never achieve it, it’s a hope, albeit it many cases it’s just a faint one, nevertheless it’s still a hope. But this isn’t so for the sons of fathers who have have reached the stratosphere of greatness. They don’t have this hope, and it’s a cross to bear. The danger of too much greatness is that it robs our children of theirs. It is not wrong for Julian who is wiser than his father to bathe in the light of his father’s greatness. It’s the way it’s meant to be. He is of interest to people and they will listen to his singing with consideration because they will believe because of his father he must have something, but it will only be in intimate surroundings such as pubs and the like. And hey that’s ok. What’s wrong with that? He’s got a good singing voice with an interesting twang to it. With regard to your question pertaining to those with perhaps better voices who don’t make it, we are getting into the realm of fate which others might call luck. This is what Solomon says. Ecclesiastes 9:11 King James Version (KJV) 11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Well Julian IS a Grammy Award winning artist. Valotte was a HUGE album with a number of hits. He's had a number of acclaimed albums released as well. He might not be the icon his father was, but he ha been quite successful in music, more than any of the other Beatles offspring.

Yes, in interviews shortly before his death, he said he knew he had not been a good father to Julian and wanted to establish a better relationship with him in the future. But at the time Julian was 16-17 and John did not think he wanted to be swamped under sudden attention. He figured he had been 40 more years to do it.
