@ronaldbernard41727 жыл бұрын
Julian Jackson was more dominant than GGG and most other middleweight, he was one of a kind
@Nagy50Magyar4 жыл бұрын
Ronald Bernard, yours is just an abjectly false statement. Jackson defended the light middleweight title five times before being knocked out in two by Mike McCallum. He then took the vacant WBA light middleweight title, and defended it three times before campaigning as a full middleweight. He took and defended the vacant WBC middleweight bauble four times before being wasted by Gerald McClellan. After being KOed again in the rematch by McClellan, he again won the vacant WBC title, but promptly lost it in the very first defense, KOed this time by Quincy Taylor. He had one more shot at something called the WBU light middleweight championship, being KOed in 6 by Verno Phillips. Gennady Golovkin, on the other hand, did not lose as a professional till his 40th fight. That was arguably a bad decision in favor of Saul Alvarez when GGG was past age 36. Prior to that, he was undefeated in 22 straight world title fights, and had suffered only a draw against that same Alvarez, another bad decision. He knocked out 19 of those opponents. It is he, not Jackson who has the highest KO ratio in middleweight championship fights, 89.7%. He also has a jaw for the ages, never having hit the floor in 350 amateur fights, 42 pro fights, and all the attendant sparring. Had lineal middleweight champions not ducked him during every year of his prime, he might now be considered one of the three greatest middleweight champions of all time. Julian Jackson was handicapped for nearly his entire career by having a small frame while fighting bigger. Even today, in retirement, he is barely over 160 pounds. He scored more spectacular KOs than GGG, but was not the better KO artist, and paled in comparison as a boxer. Jackson was more exciting than the methodical GGG, but calling him more dominant is a surrealistic farce.
@stikndip3 жыл бұрын
That’s you told! 😂
@johnniea46843 жыл бұрын
@@Nagy50Magyar I agree with everything you wrote, except that Jackson was a much better puncher than Golovkin, even at middleweight. KO ratio doesn't equate to harder puncher. Golovkin is a better boxer than Jackson, more accurate and with heavy hands, far more of an attritional fighter. Jackson was just a fearsome single punch KO artist, fast and dangerous. One important aspect is he countered well in exchanges, where the opponent is more vulnerable. It's harder to knock someone out who is on defence. Obviously his power was slightly less impactful up at 160 but still incredibly dangerous.

Great to see he made it out of the 80s and 90s boxing game with everything intact. And the absolute passion he shows for the sport is something that is lost on a lot boxers even to this day. The most prolific POWER HITTER EVER. Tyson, Hearns, McClellan, Alexis Arguello etc....knocked guys out but The Hawk left his victims to be taken out on a stretcher. He could sleep an opponent throwing off balance. A true NATURAL born puncher in every sense of the word. Even more than Shavers. When Julian Jackson hit a man they STAYED hit. His kayos were savage, sickening and beautiful to watch. Like a car wreck. The Hawk leveled opponents in a way that they literally short circuited and were out on impact. I watched a lot of boxing over the years and have never seen a hitter like the Hawk. Good to see him looking healthy, fit and on control of his faculties. Then again he doled out the punishment more than he received and I would have to think his faith also kept him well preserved. Out of a lot of the outstanding fighters from the 90s he looks probably the most sound and fit.
