@@b3aun3lson I did the same exact thing with his interviews and 1978 was the last year where you wouldn't notice his speech starting to slow, but there's one in 79 where you can start to see the signs of it. Not sure you can call the Holmes contest a real fight. Ali was mauled in the ring, and Holmes took it easy on him. The Holmes disaster should never have taken place. Ali desperately needed the money. No tune up fights (not that they would have helped-he was beyond shot in 1980). So the Berbick fight in 1981 took place outside the United States because no state would sanction another Ali bout. So they fought in the Bahamas. It is absolutely shocking to watch Ali interviews circa 1970 and then to this in 1980. It was ten years but Ali seemed to have aged at least 35 years. This is the behavior and speech of someone in their 70's and suffering cognition and speech issues. He's only 38 years old here!

@@dropway9108 He should have retired after the third Ken Norton fight. His timing was way off and he seemed to miss half of his punches. He even admitted after the fight the judges were nice to him and let him retain his title. Norton really clobbered him the last 3 rounds and Ali mostly stayed in a defensive "rope a dope" posture and tried to block the punches. He was a sad shadow of his former self and he had just enough skill and stamina left to win the fight. The previous fight with Jimmy Young should have convinced Ali to consider retiring. He looked awful in that fight-out of shape and his punches were way off the mark. Angelo Dundee tried to convince the reporters that Ali was in shape and trained hard for the fight, but it looked like he lost his passion for the sport and was only fighting because he needed the money to sustain his extravagant lifestyle and his huge entourage bleeding his bank account.

According to autopsy which aired March of 2017 Muhammad Ali condition had came from a pesticide that was scraped from his lung and put under a microscope and determined to be a pesticide. The pesticide mimic Parkinson's syndrome. So that's why doctors thought he had Parkinson syndrome for so many years. They also spoke about his private hospital records that couldn't be released until after he was gone, those records indicated Ali had been secretly going to the doctor for this issue and complaining since 1972 . The obsolete hospital equipment didn't pick anything up back then and would just send him home but the autopsy doctor said looking at those x-rays today shows something was wrong at an alarming rate. And if he was a professional athlete today they would have encouraged him to retire back in 72
@Mr.Deko86
@Mr.Deko86 6 ай бұрын
@@anthonytoler3916 Ali WAS encouraged to retire before the Foreman fight. He was on a serious decline. After the first Norton fight, you could hear the difference in speech flow and cadence. I wasn't aware about the pesticide. That's a damn shame. Although, I still believe that Ali paid the price for the shots he absorbed throughout his career. The pesticide effect probably accelerated his neurological decline. Had this been caught in time, he could have enjoyed the fruits of his labor.

Just to name a few fights that stand out is his third match with Kenny Norton, Muhammad covered up and a lot of punches got through to his head and body... Then there's that murderous fight he had with Ernie Shavers that really took a toll with Muhammad rope A doping... Ali is barely getting the words out, but still witty and creative.... Slurring and prePark going on.... Shoulda retired after Thrilla. No Shavers, no Lyle, no Wepner, no Spinks, no Holmes, no Berbick. Totally unnecessary

I still blame Holmes for beating an obviously sickness guy and justifying it with "he had too" and weaping after... Holmes lost all respect after that

Ridiculous comment!! Holmes did have to fight Ali because Ali insisted on fighting him and boxing authority sanctioned it! What was he supposed to do? Allow Ali to win? Holmes did not know that Ali was in such bad shape going into the fight but Ali's handlers did. Holmes kept looking over to the referee to stop the fight and he was clearly not letting his punches flow in the way he was capable of to spare Ali. Many people are to blame for Ali's deterioration but Holmes was not one of them. Why do some people feel a need to disrespect a brave fighter in order to pay respect to another brave fighter?

Será que Holmes sabia que ali estava doente antes da luta ou durante a luta? ele disse em uma entrevista que aliviou os golpes durante a luta.

@@seancreaven1671ridiculous comment. By 1979 everyone knew Ali was sick. Everyone. To claim Holmes didn't know is completely ridiculous.

the way he insults Holmes is mean. I never undestood this part of Ali. Here you won't find the excuse that it's a publicity stunt cause Ali was retired at this time. Called him ugly, no charisma, can't speak etc etc... waht's the point ?

@@emzid5105 lmaoo Ali respected Holmes, but imagine losing to your own sparing partner. Ali is very good at trash talking as you May know. He was never cruel or mean In that way.

Something else no one else is bringing into view ,his training Angelo Dunde never advised him to hang em up ,reason being he used Ali to fatten up his bank account,when one would ask him why wouldn't you tell Muhammad times up if you continue to fight i am outta here,his response is you can't tell a grown man what to do, so Angelo greed compelled him to participate with Ali demise,how sad ,all of this 4 a dollars!
