Julian Williams - The Story | Full length documentary

Julian J-Rock Williams was born April 5 1990 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was raised in the west part of Philly and is a Muslim. He has 2 brothers and 1 sister on his mom’s side, and two sisters on his father’s side. Boxing was Williams’ outlet during a difficult childhood. He was homeless at 13 years old while his mom battled drug addiction and his father was in jail. Williams was in and out of shelters, including one on the first floor of what was the Roosevelt Boulevard motel called, The Kirkbride Shelter. He got back and forth to school across the city, sometimes falling asleep on the Frankford El. Julian Williams was going to Shoemaker Middle School - and later Overbrook High. His very first coach, Kenny Mason basically adopted him. Julian lived with him until he was 19 years old. Mason taught him how to be a good person and a man. From 1991-2001 his dad was lockup, a year after he was born, J-Rock didn’t know anything about his dad or what he looked like. He met his dad when he turned 10. And as of today he’s one of his best friends.
