The Engineer or Engineers who commissioned this lift should be banned from doing anymore engineering work and go sell burgers or other work for life. it's so plain obvious the barge cannot support the shifting of such a heavy weight from one side to the other. Note that the barge was already listing when the load was moved to the center. At that point they should had stopped the operation all together. To do this type of lifting they have to get a proper work barge that have ballast tanks to offset the weight. This is what happens when one company either tries to save money or do not know what they are doing.

A lot of things gone wrong in this situation: Telescopic boom cranes located on separate [unanchored?] barges, sideways tandem lift, and lifting points located below the load. These cranes can only be operated from a levelled stable surface. I think the cranes’ boom tips got too close when they started to lift the bridge deck. The shifting loads and thus the slightly changing levels of the barges result in the cranes leaning over. The boom tips were closer to each other than the lifting points which caused the bridge deck to turn around its axis. This caused the most distant crane to be pulled from the side which is a load this type of crane isn’t designed for. Then some joint breaks and from there on disaster strikes.

DFKnightmare He wasn't 'keep going', the barge flipped and there was nothing he could do anymore. For a layperson it perhaps looks like he's going on, but a experienced crane operator tells you something different. If this progress once is started you are not more than a passenger. over hundred tons that drag on your outrigger you can fully move the operating stick to opposite direction, and nothing will happen. That's a fact.

DFKnightmare This is very simple, have you ever operated a telescopic crane? if not, then shut up! Because there was nothing the operator could have done. To stop the crane rotating there is an actual brakepedal you can push as well as giving full opposite control. But, if such a huge load starts to get a mind of its own neither the brakes or the opposite control input can stop it. And trust me, he was doing both in there! That's the risk of hoisting huge loads of the ground.

De last moest door het midden gaan en heel langzaam in de zelfde positie als toen ze de last op pakten. Daar is dus iets mis gegaan en is een deel van het gewicht van de last op de zijkant van het achterste poton terecht gekomen.

Zoals de beste stuurlui betaamd sta ik ook aan wal. Maar ik snap niet zo goed waarom ze niet subiet gingen zakken met dat deel toen het onbalans ontstond, ik zat maar te wachten op de daling. Je ziet een ontzettende wrong in dat ponton ontstaan. Dat betekent dat de achterzijde daarvan nog recht ligt, maar de voorzijde gaat helemaal scheef. Als een wokkel. Als iemand, met kennis van scheepvaart, daar toezicht op zou hebben gehad. Dan was de ellende waarschijnlijk een stuk minder geweest. Je zou kunnen stellen dat het ponton "verkeerd beladen" is. Sterkte voor de getroffenen.

Ben Hoog De pontons zijn niet goed in balans. Je ziet op het dek een pomp staan waar water uit komt. Dat wordt gebruikt als balans. Op de achterste ponton is daar wat mis mee zo te zien, aangezien die kantelt. Zoiets kan en mag niet gebeuren natuurlijk.

Het lijkt erop dat de kranen, met name de kraan die het verst weg staat op de beelden, te ver van de last opgesteld stonden, waardoor ze de last naar zich toe trokken, in plaats van dat deze opgehesen werd. Verschrikkelijk ongeluk en ik hoop dat er geen doden bij gevallen zijn.

Onbalans door de wind wellicht ? Zo ziet het er tenminste uit... Het Brugdeel beweegt ineens waardoor het zwaartepunt naar 1ne kant gaat daar waar het zware gewicht van de 2 kranen ook al hangt. (Countergewicht)

DieselHeart BR218 Dat zou heel goed kunnen. Zo'n brugdeel vangt veel wind, maar ik heb het vermoeden dat de manoeuvre niet gelijktijdig werd uitgevoerd door beide kranen. Als dat niet gelijktijdig gebeurd gaat het brugdeel schommelen en verlies je het evenwicht.

Je doet een operatie waarvan je van tevoren weet "dat die niet geheel zonder risico is". Zelfs al hadden ingenieurs de foutkans op 0,01% geschat, hoewel het er op lijkt dat men hier heeft geblunderd tot en met. Maar goed, wat doe je dan: je zorgt ervoor dat je een risicogebied ontruimt, uit voorzorg, dat er geen doden vallen, of mensen blijvend invalide worden, mocht het onverhoopt misgaan, de winkels dicht, de woonhuizen een uurtje leeg. Waarom is dat niet gebeurd? Ben ik nou zo slim, of zijn zij nu zo dom, denk ik dan... dat is toch een kwestie van primair eenvoudig veiligheidsbeleid..

Wat wil je dan doen, Het station een paar jaar sluiten. op het station in Harderwijk werd het afgelopen weekend een tunnel onder de rails geschoven,daar staan ook 2 hijskranen, Moeten we dan ook tegen de omwonenden zeggen dat ze het weekend elders moeten slapen. Denk dat een hijskraan al gauw 25 tot 30 meter lang is, Deze waren denk ik wel nog een tikje groter, Trek er een cirkeltje omheen met de straal gelijk aan de lengte van de kraan, en ontruim dat maar even.

The ship center of gravity vary a Little, but the tallest part of the cranes vary a lot, with the height of the cranes. The cranes also are at the right of the center of the ship. When the load is on the left, all weights are compensated, but when the cranes go to the right, the center of gravity vary and the result is what you saw.

The barge was listing and the cranes could not take the side load. They are not designed to take side loads. The boom on the rear crane broke. As soon as the barge began to list they should have started over. Then needed the cranes on opposite sides.

I am not an engineer but it is of my humble opinion that using a barge as a platform for handling 2 huge cranes trying to lift what seems to be a bridge made of steel that must weigh tons was not wise at all. It's a shame that this happened, a real shame.

Incertus Veritas I'm pretty sure they had been doing this numerous times the whole way down the river. Assuming they've done this before, then something failed in the barge. That being said with that much crane on a barge you'd think it'd be someone's job to say stop if it went out of level.

Op 1:04 knikt de achterste / kleinste kraan door te veel zijwaartse kracht. De knik ontstaat achter het brugdek, daar waar de oliedrukcilinders op de hefboom aansluiten.

I think the piece of bridge actually hits the crane at the back and breaks something. The crane arm starts to fall at 1:05 before the base moves at all.
