‪@timholtz‬ just released his latest stamp and stencil sets and I had the best time creating and making with them. During the process I realized just how much I enjoy using stamps and stencils to create backgrounds for my cards. In this video I’m sharing 3 of my favorite background techniques using stamps and stencils. Along with learning the 3 techniques, I also walk you through how I added the finishing details to each card.

Where'd the spotty grid over the green stencil pattern come from? It's not the background you showed before describing the stitching and label.

The one you see in the photo was the first card I made and sent in to Tim for the KZbin Live. I had to send it in before I had time to make the video, so I remade the card so I could create this video. So what you are seeing is a monoprinted background. When you do this technique you will get a slightly different look each time. That is just the nature of working with these types of mediums, but part of the fun that each one is slightly unique!

Thanks so much for the detailed video. I received my abstract floral stamp and was debating what to do for my first make - and your make is a great inspiration! Apart from substituting the ornamental trims stamp I have all the supplies so I can follow along with your video. Im also going to have a play with the layered smudge stamping technique - I hadnt realised it would work with layering the stamps. I really look forward to your videos as they fully explain the process whilst showing off your amazing work. ❤

Love the 3 cards Juliana! I have a question on the last card with the yellow background. At first glance I thought you had stitched between all squares because there’s some white between the squares. I see now the stitching is only on the sides, but I don’t get what you did in between the squares and I love the effect. Thanks again for your great videos!

Love your cards.❤2 Questions....where'd u get that sticky mat from? It's not linked below. And the background stencil in video was green. The finished card had like dots in the thin openings. It's definitely different from your video. So, how'd u get those dots in those thin lined areas?

Ah! I thought so but I saw some black print I didn't recognize. I commented & then I think you said it came off a TH stencil. I'd totally do the same thing. Yeah I love both versions but those tiny dots are super cool. Thanks for responding and for taking the time to write all of that. ❤

Lately my oxide and distress inks have been oily on porous paper even after using a heat tool. Have you experienced this?

I have not. You might try reaching out to Ranger to see if they have any suggestions.
