Very refreshing to see a review of a device where the reviewer has done some hard work and is prepped. So often the review will begin " I haven't seen this before...oh here's the manual we won't need that......let's learn about it together " and then you get " We are seeing how intuitive this is " But I say " Bollocks, it's lazy and cheap because I don't want to sit through you making a fool of yourself " So Kudus Julian as this is the yardstick by which reviews should be measured...cheers.
Thanks Matey. I watched back my review of the previous model and it was a bit more like a 'show and learn', so I decided to get to know this model before starting the video. Cheers :)

Thank you so much for this! I was looking all over for details on the data logging of this unit and nobody covered it. I am setting up solar in my camper and I'd like to leave it on while I'm away from it so it's important to me to see what it was doing between uses. Not many battery monitors offers data logging, and non in this price range. So thank you, this I'd definitely what I am looking for. 👍

For best accuracy, the voltage sense or power to the main module needs to be connected directly to the battery, not the cable carrying the load, as the voltage will sag through losses in the cable.

At higher currents, I would certainly agree with that.

I just bought this unit two weeks ago. It works great. The app is Bluetooth and it also is s great working app. I use the app for all the settings. I have not used the displsy yet. You can calibrate it as well. Very compact. It is also sold without the dispjay modual and just use the app with the main modul. Lots if info and the relay is a great bonus. This is perfect for using batteries and a Grid tir inverter with. I use a Epever 50 a charge controller newer version. It also has the same capabilities this unit does. However I love gadgets. Lol I highly recommend commend this unit for battery monitoring. Seems to be very accurate. Great video. Can you do a vid on the relay ststem?

Can use RS485-LINK interface to communicate with HA
@johanneslode200611 ай бұрын
The two connections for display and RS485 are connected internally in parallel. The display unit speaks the same protocol as a PC would do. Unfortunately, the display chatters so much and so quickly on the RS485 line, that a PC has real difficulties to talk to the measuring unit without line contention and data collision. I had to take off the display from the RS485 line, to get the communication running reliably. Even if the display turns dark after some time, it continues to chatter on the line.
@User1462uuw8w11 ай бұрын
Can we use Rs485 link of this unit to connect it to solar inverter? For example, could Must PV18-3024 inverter control battary state during discharge and charge? There is a Rs485 port on the inverter and settings for Li in menu - collection of information about battery state of charge from BMS. So, it may work?
@johanneslode200611 ай бұрын
@@User1462uuw8w The RS485 link of the KHF device uses its own comm protocol, which is not MODBUS, but something different. Most inverters use MODBUS Pylontech or something else. RS485 is the hardware transport standard, MODBUS or even the Junctek KHF protocol is the software on top of it. So if your inverter speaks Junctek KHF over RS485, the your idea could work, else not.

I use an Eco Worthy Hall Current ring, still a passive monitor, but you don't need a shunt. It reads in both directions. You can tell it the battery capacity up to 200 amps.

The Chinese really should research what the names mean in other languages before selling them. Having the name of a Lithium battery containing the word fire is a good example of not doing any research. Junc tek doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the brand either.

Hi, I have seen that the shunt is really a 200A one. Does the unit limit the display and log data to 100A ? Or can it measure (for a short time) currents above 100A ??? Thanks for your videos!
@electronistul10 ай бұрын
Hello, can you confirm that the coulombmeter function does what I think it does, namely: During the life of a battery 1-10 years (whatever it is) it charges and discharges, the coulombmeter function measures what current comes out and what current comes in (subtracts and adds - averages, etc.) then results (normally after several cycles, not instantly) the capacity in Ah of the battery. Let's say we have a 100Ah battery and I cycle it 20-80%, the coulomb meter should show me after some time a capacity of 60Ah (ideal). If we reduce the losses, I think somewhere around 55-59Ah. This is true ? Does it do what I think?

I bought this device too a couple of month too. I integrated it into my solar system and into home automation and I'm doing a lot of long term tests. I hope, the firmware gets sorted out the exisiting issues, as the device is nice hardware. The data recording is done in the measurement unit. One can disconnect the display and come back later and the settings and recordings are all there. The display is pretty dumb, all the intelligence of the KH-F series is in the measurement unit. The relay makes no sense to me, in connection with the display, as an easy tap on the OK button of the display toggles the relay, so one could easily cut off the battery system by accident.

Hello! Thank you for creating this video! I have a question regarding its usage. Can the kl110f be used with cars or car starter batteries? If yes, do I need a larger shunt due to the spike in current caused by the car starting? I want to monitor parasitic drain current, which is under 1A. However, I'm unsure if I need a larger shunt as my car battery has 500-600 cold crank amps (Honda Element 4.2L, 4 cylinder). I've seen many people using this product in RVs, but I'm not sure if they're using it on their starter battery or on their secondary/leisure battery only. I would appreciate any thoughts you may have on this. Unfortunately, I'm unable to reach the manufacturer.

Hoping Bluetooth connectivity is in the display unit, not the module at the battery connection. Not sure if Bluetooth will reliably reach our living area from our battery room (about 10 meters away).
@johanneslode200611 ай бұрын
Bluetooth is in the measurement unit, the display unit is pretty dumb. But you could easily extend the display cord to 20 meters without serious problems, to have the display in your vicinity.

Whats the current resolution when using a 200A shunt. 0.075/200 is 375uV per Amp would be nice to see the ADC spec.
There is a 400 amp version for a slightly higher price.

Can you recommend the relay that goes with this unit ?
@johanneslode200611 ай бұрын
I have tried to communicate with JUNCTEK to find out what the current rating of the relay driver is, but we have not found a common language to answer this question. The on-board driver looks pretty strong and has a free-wheeling diode, so running relays up to a few hundred milliamps, maybe even 1-2A, shouldn't be a problem. Please don't take my word for it though, I didn't receive any technical data. I tried using a 24 V relay, which draws about 50 mA and is basically a truck headlight relay, to trip a 250 A circuit breaker on its remote input, which worked fine. But there's still a downer - the OK button on the display toggles the relay with a simple push of the OK button without further inquiry. This means that the battery system can be cut off unintentionally by a simple handling error. Otherwise, the KH-F series is a fine piece of hardware. The firmware may still need some work.
