@sportschool35372 жыл бұрын
@Fedor Ivanov Lara's Caruso is the best version of the song because it's the way it was intended to be sung... not by Lucio Dalla of course, he wasn't that kind of a singer... but Dalla didn't intend for the song to be sung in an operatic way... Lara gives it a more down to earth beauty with less overforced power and more beautiful passionate silky notes that show the beauty of a song that was made by Lucio Dalla as a tribute to his friend Caruso... I wish that Lara was more popular in the US so that the pop music industry would be more influenced by her... I see all these young girls wanting to become "divas" but not understanding that vocal gymnastics alone aren't enough... Lara's way of singing should be taught as a mandatory lesson in every music school in the world... Lara's way of singing is THE RIGHT WAY... more emotion, less needless showing off with big notes and endless runs where they don't belong...

I will definitely attend as I did like Julia review of Je suis malade. Adagio is Lara’s song: she wrote it and is the original performer. It was later covered by Dimash, Floor Jensen, Polina Gagarina, Giulia Falcone, and … Shirley Bassey. More info on Lara: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... We can debate her rank in this list (in my personal view she tops these) but she is there. There are also a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing song writer and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-compose the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 if I remember well (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). in 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert. But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months. Many of her spngs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA is now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. He covered many of her songs (that she wrote and performed originally). Out of my mind I can list: • Adagio, • Mademoiselle Hyde, • Know, • Love of tired swans, She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ». She covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva) And they performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina. This is a song that she wrote with Igor Krutoy and performed initially with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs: • Floor Jansen (Adagio) • Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime) • Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie) • Morissette Amon (Broken Vow) • Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace) • Cakra Khan (Broken Vow) • Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow) • Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade) • .... Today , she is 52 yo but she his still singing with her resonant belts, her magnificent tone, her stage presence, her artistry, her commitments to lyrics, story and emotions. She has used her vocal skills to work around the impact of ageing on her voice. Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara. If you explore more of her songs, you will soon be hooked, I'm sure.

Superb analysis. And have I got a Fabian rec for you. First though, the thing that stuns me the most about her is not just her gorgeous voice (though it hits my neural net like no other soprano ever has) but how enormously skilled she is at implementing her 1001 brilliant choices. Amazing marriage of technical master & uncanny emotive abilities. Smart, smart, smart. Meticulous. I'm particularly fond of Adagio because this Fabian original pop treatment of Albinoni's Adagio (my fav) retains a strong echo of the source that covers of Fabian's Adagio lose straight away. 🤔 Another of her originals from this concert is not, at first blush, as "pyrotechnic" a song as either Malade or Adagio. You're Not From Here sounds so gentle & easy-breezy...but, wow! The things she does (while keeping it sounding effortless)! It isn't reacted to often. This is the song that Dimash covered on "The Singer" Chinese competition that brought Dimash to Lara's attention as she congratulated him on an amazing performance (though at the time his English pronunciation was still very bad). It turns out that she's been a big idol of his as he was growing up and I could tell that he learned a lot from her in terms of making his performances emotional when they need to be. He did several covers of Lara's songs (Adagio, Mademoiselle Hyde, Love is just a dream, etc.) and got to do several duets with her as well. It is a plea, a love song to the powers of inspiration begging them to never abandon her. I know this song by heart - probably have listened to it about couple hundred times - and I never got bored :)

Julia, thank you very much for your reaction. It's a pleasure to see you sharing my own enthusiasm for Lara and complementing it with insightful analysis of her vocal art.

Great reaction, Julia! Your attention to the technical skills is appreciated! I'm looking forward to seeing Lara perform in Quebec City in June as part of her rescheduled World Tour. I'll repeat what many others have said: I'd love to watch you react to Lara perform Caruso.

Great review. I loved your little bit about the connection about how, in performance, inner emotion is best expressed by all of the body, the face and the voice. Lara is a shining example of such expression. In this performanvce she produced maybe a hundred different faces, not to mention her hand, arm and body movements, using the space offered by the stage. I have never seen anyone perform with such ease and flow. If you look at her movie on KZbin, Mademoiselle Zhivago, you will see she that, had she chosen that path, she would have made a very fine actress.

Love you and your reactions. I am watching this reaction with thunderstorms when it is -20 C here in Montreal. Lara's emotions truely tell the story. To quote the judges on American Idol "Best storyteller wins."

No sabes como he disfrutado tu análisis Julia. ¡Hermoso!💯
Now let’s imagine Julia reacting to the rest of that concert, especially with songs like Caruso, Broken vow, Perdere l’amore, and You’re not from here…

Thank you for reacting to this, and yes, you should react to many of her masterpieces. And make sure that you react to her live performances. You won’t regret it. Her live performances are genuinely soul-touching, and she should be studied by anybody striving to be an Exquisite Singer, performer, singer-songwriter, and so on. Last but not least, she is a beautiful human being and a role model for a new generation to come, such as Dimash and others. She's now 52 and never fails to impress me. Thanks again! We love you, #LaraFabian 💛💚💙🇧🇷

Arguably the greatest vocalist/singer/storyteller/interpreter in musical history. This concert, "From Lara With Love" is, perhaps, the greatest concert ever recorded. If not "Je Suis Malade", then "Adagio" is the greatest single from the greatest concert ever shown. I use "great" often when describing Lara, but it is so easy to do. Try to watch the concert in full.

Thank you very much for this great reaction. If you want to experience Lara in a different way, a reaction to Johnny Hallyday & Lara „Requiem pour un for“ (live 1998) would be perfect for that.

Oh Julia, what a performance of a reaction to a rendition one of a kind .. who else can attach me to the chair by simply reacting to an artists work. I love the way you connect to your emotions, I love the fact that you can explain why you‘re feeling and I love the ability to draw lines and throw colors by speaking words - you‘re one of a kind reactor and I adore the outcome. There are not much reactors understanding the artistry so deeply. Lara is one of my favorite performer, one of the absolute best vocalists ever. Thank you so much for expressing what I can feel but not express by words myself. Best wishes from Germany

Omg please react to Lara Fabian singing "Lyubov Pokozhaya Na Son", she KILLS this song every time she sings it. This song is more recent Also, "You're Not From Here" is AMAZING. She holds out a note for like a solid 20 seconds. You need to listen to it. It's CRAZY

Thank you for a loaded reaction, which is much appreciated. The more detail, the better for everyone. I think I'm in love with that voice. Lara's vocal abilities are magical... How she brings that together with the rest of her performance - body language, facial expressions, vocal interpretation. This entire composition is so stunningly and beautifully performed. All credit then also to the composer. Allow me... Lara's stage presence is phenomenal, an absolute gem. What a beautiful personality she must have in the way that she carries herself...absolutely respectful. Again, thank you so much for all the nitty-gritty details, but it was necessary to smooth out the flow of your reaction😊. I love that. ❤

I think you'd also enjoy her wonderful live performances of "Je T'aime" (where the audience sings along throughout the whole song), and "Caruso".
@coolcat8b2 жыл бұрын
Although the live performance of Je T'Aime is very sweet (obviously her fans love her), we don't get to hear her sing it fully, since more than half is sung by her fans while she sits on the stage. I'm not blaming her one bit, but hearing her sing the whole song fully is quite an experience. Lara is an amazing, a rare singer. To appreciate all the richness and subtleties, I suggest the studio version, or another live version.
@zenutopia2k708 Жыл бұрын
@@coolcat8b Good point. I agree those are excellent. I love everything I've heard her sing (except for a few "pop/commercial" songs). But the love and connection between her and her audience, and her honest vulnerability in this live performance always is like a spiritual experience for me - every time I hear/watch it.

Lara and Floor (Jansen) are for me the only singers who can touch me to the bone. so many emotions that they put in their music, that you forget to breathe. just formidable. Floor also performed Adagio and, as always, portrayed it in her powerful way.🎶🎶🤟🏻🤟🏻

Je t'aime live in Paris is one of her best performances of all time. She has such incredible stage presence its amazing.

She made several Live versions of this song in Paris. My preferred is from her « En toute intimité » concert in 2003. And of course there is the legendary live in 2001 from the « Nue » concert where the connection with the fans is totally unique. A good way to cover this song for me would be a double reaction: first the 2003 version, then the 2001
@32a34a2 жыл бұрын
@@ericsicard910 And of course the live version of Je Suis Malade where she does that insane A cappella. It was in Olympia in Paris when her pianist walks off the stage and then she precedes to enter god mode. That was just a stunning performance.
