Phil Collins is all over my childhood soundtrack. He's still in heavy rotation in my household. My kids were born after ninety-five and they still rock Phil to this day. I'm glad I was able to witness the late 70s and the 80s music. What a time. 😊 Thank you for analyzing one of the top tier great artist of all time.

He was never a singer who could drum, he was a drummer who found himself having to sing. Worth remembering he was a phenomenal player and as such, his isolation is good, his relaxation and efficiency of movement is excellent, so isolating for good vocals isn't too hard. Look at one of the greatest rock players of all time, Neil Peart, and note how he often looks bored. Great drumming is technique, not being unnecessarily wild. I suppose it's not unlike how vocalists might find something that seems very impressive quite comfortable, so they have to give the performance an extra level of gusto, a bit like faking it(?) so the audience buy the emotion more.

Awesome video, Julia! This video totally deserves tons and tons more likes than 3.2k I’ve always liked this song, but their songs with crazy time signatures are where they shine (in my opinion). I would’ve loved to see you get blown away by them again 😊

I don't understand how you can be so articulate and emphatetic to this, on your first hearing. That is almost as impressive as Ren's performance. Thanks. Powerful stuff.

To me this song is all about love for music. Slow intro, a long time before the singing starts, intense vocals, beautiful melodies ... The complete antidote to the fast food pop industry. You need to take your time to get this song.
