@@mnmleung Hi, it's fine now. I got to the bottom of the issue. I'd migrated my OS to a new SSD just before buying the UR22C and for some reason it affected my USB driver. Thank you for your detail and deep review. I've bought UR22C based on many reviews as well as yours, and I'm very satisfied with this audio-interface. Despite of relative low mic input dynamic range, it is more than enough for my dynamic Sure SM-58 and SM-57 mics with acceptable noise level.

Glad to hear this! As I'm planning to buy this device mainly to record voice & guitar (monitored with FX from the UR22C) to Cubase, with SM-58 & SM-57 mics. After 5 months since your comment, is the UR22C still working well with your SM-58 & SM-57 mics? Thanks!

Hands down the best review I have seen I years. 100% thorough. I just wish that all the audio interface manufacturers could send you all their products for review and pay you for doing so. You could then review all interfaces on the market. High end as well as the cheaper models. I am in the marked for a new interface so a test of USB 3 vs Thunderbolt 2 for RME, UA, Antelope, Presonus and driver support etc would be much appreciated. Especially low end vs High end interface latency. Well done! Keep up the good work:)

Watched your video before picking one of these up today... was really torn between it and the 2i2, in moving away from a dedicated mixing console and PCI sound card. Have to say though, I am really impressed with how well it performs. Using my Shure SRH440's (44 ohm) the phones volume was just to the left of 12 o'clock, and the noise floor was dead silent between audio passages on playback. Plenty powerful enough for an SM57 without a Cloudlifter, but it did round things out nicely when added and let me turn the gain down a bit too. Love your content - thank you!

Hi Julian. Another great video and production. The 32Bit may be FP within compatible software, although it seems odd that you don’t see it in the ASIO control panel. I’ve had certain interfaces that show up as 32FP with Nuendo but not in other ASIO compliant software. It will, as you’ve said, at least operate internally at 32Bit. Which will really help with summing and rounding things off for anything that may utilise its hardware (presumably a DSP). Again, great video. Cheers, Dave.

I have been using UR22 since its first version. I also use and 816C for my studio. Each version performed extremely well for me. I also use NI Komplete audio which is also an excellent interface. As far as noise floor is concerned all of them performed at a level where there is any difference in practical usage. Most of the German made interfaces are of extremely good quality. Moreover, UR22C comes with this DSP effects which is no one provides at that price point and the effects are very good. It saves my day when artist asks for a near real-time monitoring with reverb.

just a heads up from a slightly disgruntled UR816C owner. If you use those onboard effects then the midi stability goes out the window. In fact I've not been able to use the midi inputs at all due to this problem. You will need a separate midi interface/usb cable as the one on the unit isn't fit for purpose (both mac and pc drivers)

I have this interface over a year now... The ''Steinberg'' logo on the top of the interface litterly faded away. Also the paint on master volume knob paint also got deteriorated. I always took great care and NEVER travelled with it. Does anyone have the same issue with this interface? Also is the pre-amp (Yamaha D-Pre) really that bad? Imagine the Yamaha MG series mixers which has the same pre-amps... It makes me want to upgrade to something else maybe SSL2+ or Focusrite Clarett or AXR4U...

One question about the noise comparison between the different devices: The max mic gain of the UR22C is higher than that of the Presonus 24C for example. So was the noise test performed by the exact same input gains or the respective maximum available gain of each specific device? In the last csae it's not that surprising that the UR22C produces more noise since it has more max amplification compared to Presonus 24C or Scarlett 2i2 for example.
@JulianKrause3 жыл бұрын
Hey, the preamp noise (EIN) and my noise sound samples take the gain into account. So, you can directly compare the number and it's a fair comparison.
@wgchris43 жыл бұрын
@@JulianKrause Thanks a lot! The reason for my question: During the last days I took a deeper look at the UR22C and the Presonus 24C. Midi was fine with both of them and I couldn't find a difference regarding latency. Audio inputs for my digital piano were also satisfying with both interfaces. But when I tried to record tin whistles with my Marantz MPM 1000 I had to struggle with the 24C: The input level was quite low so I needed almost the complete input gain, resulting in remarkable noise. With the UR22C I needed much less input gain and had slightly less noise in my record at a comparable loudness. (I also performed the same tests with the scarlett i2i 3rd, but due to the additional needed USB cable I got a very noisy input signal. Probably this isn't a fault of the scarlett but my setup, but why looking for the cause, if there are alternatives without this problem.)

Hi! Thanks for the review. I have one question, I have following situation - I'm recording a guitar and I'm using both inputs, INPUT 1 for D.I. box and INPUT 2 for guitar processor, I'm recording only INPUT 1 and I'm using INPUT 2 just for monitoring myself with guitar processor. So my question is - can I listen to INPUT 2 only with direct monitoring or DSP monitoring? without hearing DI sound of my guitar. When I'm doing this in DAW I have a latency, because of buffer size.
