its not about right and wrong. its about battling for life. and doing what you have to do.

@PhillAlexandros I think the reason I appreciate Julianne Moore most in this film is because the role of Laura Brown would be so difficult to play. The viewer can tell something is wrong with her, but they're not exactly sure of what. Everything must be conveyed through voice, facial expressions, and body language.

... and it lost the Oscar for Best Picture to Chicago. And that year the other movies nominated for Best Picture were Gangs of New York, Lord of the Rings and the Pianist... and they all lost to Chicago...
@nemergre209 жыл бұрын
I love Chicago. That being said, there is no way I could deny my desire for The Hours to have gotten that award. Even though I may love Chicago, The Hours is by far better in all the ways it could be. One of my favorite movies ever.
@vins19799 жыл бұрын
***** I just think ALL the other movies were better than Chicago that year. I like Chicago too, but can you compare it to the Hours or the Pianist for importance and artistic ambition? It's like 'Pinocchio' winning over 'the Karamazov Brothers'.

This isn't about Nicole Kidman's make-up. It's about the movie. I'm interested in her makeup. It was amazing!
they portrayed virginia woolf as this neurotic, suicidal struggling in her life...what kind of research did they do to portray her as auch..how did they know she was like that in her life...
@thomasthompson63785 жыл бұрын
Virginia Woolf was indeed a neurotic, was indeed suicidal, and was indeed struggling in her life -- as the historical fact of her suicide ultimately proved.
@PninianPnin11 жыл бұрын
I agree, she was brilliant. Nicole Kidman wasn't as good as Streep or Moore. She was just so intense!
@thomasthompson63785 жыл бұрын
Nicole's Virginia Woolf needed just that kind of intensity, needed something to suggest her version of the character would be fully capable of performing a monstrously reckless act.
@DeepScreenAnalysis13 жыл бұрын
God, Nicole is so pretentious. I find her quite endearing, though. Girlfriend's come a long way.
@denininita12 жыл бұрын
Ok, wow! How much make up did they need to make Nicole look like ''Virginia''? Honestly, I see no resemblance! I was wondering through the movie who is this actress?! And yeah, quite disappointed...
