It's indeed a seriously complex bassline. And Julia surely did it justice. She's not intimidated by basslines of this caliber at all. She handles Larry Graham's "Hair" with equal finesse. (It's listed on her KZbin channel.)

I say she "ruins" songs. Once you hear Julia's version you can't ever enjoy the original in quite the same way! More Julia; fewer boring bass parts. ;)

Now THAT'S how you're supposed to play this song! Her groove was spot on! Nailed it!!! I've been playing bass since the 70s and I know a great funky bass player when I see/hear one. I especially loved her body language and facial expressions. So confident!

OUTSTANDING cover of the immortal 1984 Jocelyn Brown classic I danced at the disco in my twenties...the groove and punch you deliver with those bass parts is a clear demonstration of the saying "the sound lies in the hands". You have my never ending admiration.

You are by far my favorite bassist on KZbin. Wow! Your touch, your tone, your execution, your timing, are all perfect. She sure has enought talent to be a session player. Just remember that a session player has to be able to sight read and learn parts instantly. They also have to improvise at the drop of a hat.

Unbelievably smooth slap bass. Learning this song atm and was just watching her right hand for the whole video. The transitions from fingerstyle to slap was effortless and all the extra fills just thrown in were Unbelievable. Great cover!

That shortscale bass sounds so different from your other basses. I never realized how in a skilled musician there would be a noticeable difference.

Yeah if we're talking what affects sound of electric bass/guitar the most, it's like amp+effects -> pickups -> strings/scale length (guitar maybe has less of a "thing" with roundwound vs flat but certainly still string _thickness_ and such)
