Suga is my bias The stories aren’t related, so you could read them in any order you’d like! You could even skip the others if you really want, or just buy a copy of The Body on it‘s own. I really like the other novellas in this collection as well, my favorite being Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption, so you really can’t go wrong any way you choose to do it.

It is true that you can read The Shining and Doctor Sleep separately but I will share my personal experience. When I first read Doctor Sleep I didn't read The Shining first and thought it was only okay. However, on rereads I read them back to back and mind is blown every single time. The atmosphere flows together almost musically in a way. It really is amazing considering how long of a gap there was between them being written. I definitely recommend reading them together. It's truly a different experience.

Needful Things 9. Pet Semetary 10. Cujo/Christine On Writing is terrific as well for writing enthusiasts and/or anyone wanting a little background into the life of King while growing up. I have been waiting for the updated version of your collection; it was the first video I had watched on you channel. I think you should try the Bachman books, those are really interesting. Hearts in Atlantis and Insomnia have connections to the Dark Tower series. I believe Reading Rhodes has a video on his recommended reading order and which books have significant Dark Tower connections and which are just are maybe wink and nod kind of thing. The Regulators and Desperation are sister books or AU of each other. I don't think it matters which you read first though.

I saw all of these low priced copies of "Revival" at Barnes & Noble a while back (even got mine real cheap at a thrift store). I don't understand the hate! It was an awesome book. But, you have to read it to the very end... The ending is where Revival really takes off and blows you away! I love how you have so many copies of Mr. Mercedes (is this why you have your own book store?). If you can afford it, that's the ultimate book trilogy to collect alternate covers / copies of, it's seriously one of my favorites as well! You are so cute!!

The Shining was the first King I've read somewhere mid-90's. Then It and from there on I started to digest all his other books. When finished most of his work I started readind The Dark Tower. During that time the saga was not finished, so after The Wolves of Calla I had to wait untill he finished the next DT book to know what was happening with Roland and hia Ka-Tet. Those books got me through a very rough time and are his best work. Love to see you have so much passion for King. Greetings from the Netherlands

Insomnia is amazing, one of my favourites although it gets bad reviews for some reason? Reading the dark tower, and I’m 150 pages into book 4, but I’m getting the impression I should have read insomnia after the tower... and also getting the feeling the stand is quite important to the tower too. The stand is an amazing book on its own though, get reading it!

There are so many Stephen King books that I want to read. I've read IT and Salems Lot so far so I can't wait to continue. But I have to ask because a lot of booktubers do this, but when you 'tab' a book, what kinds of things do you tab?
@pyrolusite_d7 жыл бұрын
Brianne Williams she explained it in IT review she did recently If i may i would recommend some stephen king books to continue with and i see the best stephen king books being it, pet sematary, misery, the stand and the dark tower series and even though i havent read the last 3 books on here these are the books you simply have to read to get into stephen king I know theres a glaring absence of the shining and thats because the movie is better PERIOD Hate me all you want but there exists a simple fact that creepy sisters that were murdered years ago speaking to you, jack nickolson breaking down doors with an axe and elevators spewing blood are scarier than wasps, emergency hoses and BUSHES!!
@briannewilliams97107 жыл бұрын

Love this video. A lot of Stephen King's books share a universe, maybe all of them. *_Insomnia_* has some interesting connections to both *_It_* and the *_Gunslinger/Dark Tower_* series and almost counts as a sequel to the former and a prequel of sorts to the latter. You might try reading a bit of *_Desperation_* and *_The Regulators_* at the same time to decide which one you like better. Basically *_The Regulators_* has more action while *_Desperation_* fills out the story and characters more fully but the order really doesn't matter. You might like *_The Tommyknockers_* but even Stephen King has admitted that it's the one book of his that really suffered because of all the drugs and alcohol he was doing for most of the 1980s and it is probably twice as long as it needs to be.

I'm so jelous of your collection, I started collecting King books this summer so I don't have a lot yet. But I've been obsessed with the dark Tower series lately so those are my top priority to buy right now. I have the first four and I've read all of those. The fourth one is currently my favourite, it was so amazing, but I also loved the second, you should really read that one soon!

13:26 the dark tower movie doesn’t spoil the books, but it’s not an adaptation. it’s related to the books in a weird way that u will only understand after u read the series

The drawing of the three is the best tower book in my opinion, I love the introduction to each of the characters that carry the rest of the series

I don‘t know if you’ve read this since this video, but please pick up The Long Walk!!! The premise sounds a bit boring, but it was written amazingly and didn’t feel boring at all, it’s just so worth it. It ended up being one of the best books I’ve read of all time. Tied with It for #1 in my top five King books!

Since your last vid collection of S.K i only acquired 2 books from him, (now i have 7 books from him) Dreamcatcher and The Shining, my least favorite book of him is Dreamcatcher, you need to read 11.22.63, a really good book, and then watch the mini series, top notch
@JuliaSapphire7 жыл бұрын
+The Book Walker nice! Why didn't you like Dreamcatcher? I haven't heard much about that one and am interested in why you didn't enjoy it?:) I need read 11/22/63 lol

Have you read CELL? If you Haven't ( Stay away from the movie) you should read it. IMO it's far from his best work and i consider it as one or could be his Worst, Even though it's not his best story he done , Meh King book is still a good book.

The Regulators or Desperation can be read in any order. They are kind of two different stories of (sort of) the same characters from different universes. Kind of. Really, I don't know if I understood how they connect. Desperation is a much better book though. For some reason, I don't tend to remember short stories very well. Probably because I go through them so fast. King has said he's not that proud of The Tommyknockers, but I thought it was good. My favorite character from The Dark Tower series is Father Callahan (same guy from Salem's Lot). He plays a big role in the series. If I recall correctly, only 2 of the losers appear in 11/22/63, and it's mostly just a cameo.

+thesnake52000 FATHER CALLAHAN IS IN THE DARK TOWER SERIES OMG!!!
@thesnake520007 жыл бұрын
Heh, just feel like letting you know that King advertised this fact heavily in interviews leading up to the release of the book Callahan was in. That's why I don't really consider it a spoiler. I hope you don't mind me telling you!

The Gunslinger is one of King's hardest books to read, especially if it's the original version. The revised and expanded version (which is what you have) is much better to read because it fixes canon problems. The fact you got through it is a milestone. The rest of the series is excellent. The Waste Lands (III) was my favorite for the longest time, but Wolves of the Calla (V) is my favorite in the series. Father Callahan (from 'Salem's Lot) appears in this and becomes part of the storyline up until book seven. The movie is a love-or-hate affair. I loved it, especially the Easter Eggs hidden within. Not perfect, but fun! I have an awesome hardcover of 'Salem's Lot that includes illustrations and two extra short stories that relate to the novel: "Jerusalem's Lot" and "One for the Road" (both of which are in the Night Shift collection). Dead Zone is a great, easy read! The film adaption is pretty solid as well, especially with Christopher Walken as the main character. Great video!!!
