I was watching her on another talk show, she was talking about how when her daughter was a little girl they were out and she overheard her daughter telling another woman that her mom was Mary Poppins (the movie had just come out and there was a poster). The woman was then overheard saying to a friend or something, "oh how sweet, she thinks her mum is Mary Poppins". Julie then made her presence known, and I guess the look on the woman's face was priceless.

As a young child, my siblings and I discovered her in 1980, when the Sound of Music came on the telly. It is memorable because it was the only time our parents let us have our dinner with the television still on. Dame Julie has an immeasurable talent, with a quick and surprising sense of comedic timing, a graceful dancer, and with that powerhouse voice. The comedy routines with Carol Burnett are some of the funniest skits ever! She’s also a tough cookie who overcame many difficulties in her childhood in the UK. Dear Julie, Despite the loss of your singing voice, Julie, you are still alive and active as an actress and a writer. That is really important for me. I am a huge fan of yours, and of course I miss your singing voice. I wish you could grab the microphone and sing to the music with an orchestra. But you have recorded a number of songs, which help me a lot. Though you no longer sing just like you used to when you were younger, I consider you one of the queens of Broadway musicals.
