What is your favorite Julie Ertz memory?

0 seconds ago I think it was 2016 maybe.. I was just getting into watching FIFA soccer with my family. Julie Ertz, Megan Rapinoe, and Alex Morgan have always been my favorites to watch on the US women’s team. They have so much fun on the field, they have so much grit, persistence, and perseverance. They have such a good time. There are countless games, but especially that 2016 ish game against either Brazil or Portugal if I remember correctly. Ertz & Rapinoe drove that game home, and Ertz especially just hugged and thanked everybody in awe that the US won that year’s cup. Yeah that was 2016, the year I became emotionally attached to women’s FIFA soccer as a guy.

Great interview - thanks to Julie Ertz for her amazing commitment to the game. If you could build a footballer in a laboratory, you might try replicating her. She may not have been the flashiest player on the USWNT, but we all saw that she was close to irreplaceable.

In the WWC, the USWNT allowed 1 goal in 4 games against some very good teams.

i wish more of the team had consoled her BEFORE german player missed the pk. gotta lift each other up at the worst times.

Great interview, would of love to heard if she would of stayed for the Olympic Run if they would of won the cup? I think she would of. AND how has her soccer experience shape her future to be a better mom,wife,friend?

Her teammates came off the field at the WC as spent as Julie Ertz. Anybody who knows anything about soccer could see that.

@brucerehberger9080 Yes, after 120 minutes, you're normally exhausted. Good analysis. Doesn't change the fact that the squad is playing for the money and not the country.

@@tombowers6713 Do you have a similar opinion regarding the US Men’s team. That is, they are playing for the money and not the country. There are other federations that have also significantly increased the payments to their Women’s teams. Are these also playing for the money and not the country? Just asking.

@beachliving3127 They got paid big and quit. Men's players don't depend on international payouts like women's teams. Being the highest paid squad by a mile and losing in round of 16 is a joke.

@@tombowers6713 They didn't quit, they lost. They lost because of key injuries kept important members off the team, too many old war horses on the team, a coach with a questionable game plan, and some missed penalty kicks by the old war horses. Remember, a wise man once said "It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."
