For those viewers who question the pronunciation of "Pacem," there are several acceptable versions. "Pacem" in this case is sung in Ecclesiastical Latin (also known as "Church Latin") which can be referenced here: www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/ecclesiastical_latin.htm I want to add one other program note: I have intentionally altered the harmonic progression of the last two measures of the round. (Call it creative license!) Because of this harmonic change, you should note that the ascending "pa-a-a-a-cem" in the second to last measure of PART 3 of the round, is DIFFERENT from most common versions of this round. I know there are lots of children, school choirs, church choirs, etc. that use my video to learn to sing this piece, and I apologize for any confusion if your music score looks different from what you hear on my recording. It was never my intention (when I first posted this in 2013) that so many people would be referencing this video for learning purposes. I'm thrilled and happy to be part of your learning process, but I thought I should at least point out this musical change. 🎶

She would wash the dishes after dinner and my brother & I would sit on the kitchen counter next to the sink and the 3 of us would sing this beautiful canon. Such an amazing into to music and a wonderful memory. Love You, Mom💜

@@MrsEJV This is funny! I was notified you made a comment to MY comment! I’m 77 now and my granddaughter is 21! Time flies so quickly!!! As I said I love this simple song. It’s just a lovely thing! And Cab Calloway! Oh my! My Dad loved him! If Daddy were alive today he would be 119!!! As. Kid he loved the Vaudeville Shows in and around Boston! When I was a kid all those stars were on The Ed Sullivan Show! I loved watching Hines, Hines, and Dad. That Gregory Hines, his brother, and his father. I did get to Gregory in person one time when he came here…San Antonio. Very sad he is gone! Cab’s signature song was HI DE HO. I remember him singing that so clearly! And one of my Dad’s favorite songs was THE DARKTOWN STRUTTERS BALL! I can almost hear him singing it now! Daddy was a darn good soft shoe dancer, too. One dining club we used to go to had a portable dance floor so Daddy could dance. lol it was just a piece of wood about 3 x 3! And this was a very expensive dinner club!! Funny! I hadn’t thought of THAT in quite awhile!! I’ll have to call my brothers tomorrow!!! Hope your granddaughter LOVES this opportunity! All the best to her!

"Donut, no peas, pa-chimp" until some of the nuns heard us! Bang! A nun smacking a chalkboard with a ruler! No more of that! We did learn the correct words and sang it for the Christmas Eve Mass. this was one of my fondest memories of my highschool music class. our sophomore music teacher decided to do this in all of her sophomore classes (at least 8 sections in the girls high), recorded the performances on tape, and have a competition among the girls high to see who had the best performance on tape. the teacher decided that my class had the best performance! even without the competition, just singing this in class as a choir gave me the goosebumps. it was such a joy to sing this.

Very pretty. Our church music leader tried to teach a version of this, with English lyrics, to our congregation, but they got a little lost. Then, while visiting a Mennonite church on vacation in Lancaster, the congregation there sang this song more successfully with the Latin lyrics. It took me a while to recognize it as the same song. It's a pretty composition done very well. :)
