Today, I woke up with an immediate urge to finish the girls' room turned guestroom. Our home has been in transition for the last few months and I really just needed a finished product so I can build momentum and move onto the rest of the house. We’ve been living with almost finished rooms and I’m so over it! I want it done and I want it done right now. A. You are KILLING me Smalls with your adorable engagement and family photos. B. I am so coveting your Murano lamps right now OMG!! C. I LOVE the color and texture of the walls and the fabric applique you did on the dresser drawers. If you can believe it, I just did the same paint technique in my foyer and dining room, only I added joint compound to my paint to give it a texture roman clay kinda vibe. But the joint compound lightened my wall color, and I lightened it further with some a couple cups of white paint. Then did the trim and door in the unlightened version 😊 D. Your courtyard looks awesome with the new green color and all your plants look nice a healthy. E. Your wedding dress is FAB - did you sew it? Lastly, I love the cream rug you chose but even though we don't wear shoes in the house, that color would be dirty in two seconds living in the country. What color or print would you have chosen for the rug if you lived in a scruffy farmhouse too? 😅

I love the color!! I’m soo over the all white, all grey interior designs. I think for a girls bedroom, your voices were a great base, that you can build on. And seems to work well to fit the needs of mom/grandma too

That’s how I felt about the color too… pink undertones, but not too girly. Warm and cozy, but not too sophisticated (esp with the kids’ art 🖼️ 😍)

I would like a tutorial on the paint. I am painting an office space & was considering a lime wash. This maybe the better option. Also, I found Sherman Williams Persimmons color for a guest bedroom. This color matched perfectly with one of the colors in the bedspread. I was thinking of a Parian vibe. This color technique may work to soften that color & enhance that feel. I enjoy growing & learning with all your content. I have granddaughters who are the same age as your daughters. Praying for your mom. Thanks again.

Dear Ms. Khuu, first, I love the palette of that sweet room. My dear grandmother passed last year, and my family had her with us for her last years. It was a blessing but bittersweet as well. I really hope you can go more into designing with wheelchairs, walkers, etc. as I am in a wheelchair myself, and it's not something that gets a lot of attention.

What a transformation! The fabric gave the dresser that elegant look. But if I have to do it myself (I am not a DIY person) not sure if I will go with the fabric...I will probably go with the good old wallpaper, fast and easy. Also loving the wall color..the room has that wow factor. BTW your girls are so cute. As always thanks for the tips.

I've followed you for years and more than your fabulous eclectic design that impresses me each time is your accommodating your home to family. Which I would of course do also. But you never have this, when we move, or only if we had more, or bigger mentality! You just appreciate what you have and enjoy the moment your in. The guest room is cozy and welcoming. I love the night stand. ❤ I don't know what your daughter's, Kamari, name means in Vietnamese, but in Greek it means pride: καμάρι. So when we call our child (το καμάρι μου), it means my pride and joy.

The drawer front has a bead detail where I was able to tuck the edges of the fabric in so no, it shouldn’t fray at all. 😉

Take a $5 sample pot of paint and mix with glaze to achieve the same effect for a fraction of the cost! *cue the montage* 😂 I think I need to show you with a detailed DIY tutorial. I did more of the frottage with the plastic sheets and I’d sploosh it so it looked like Venetian plaster. I’m like the faux painting master 😂 it was honestly so much fun for me to do. I’ve lived in Southern CA/ OC for most of my life. I have yet to experience an earthquake of any magnitude that makes me get off my chair/ bed. I don’t know if that’s a lack of concern or we’re just used to these tiny tremors 😅 Almost like LA traffic, I’m unbothered lol

I'm a CA native and lived in San Francisco for 56 years. I lived through several powerful earthquakes. Never had glass windows in my house "break all over me." If you're sitting right on top of the fault when a quake big enough to shatter glass hits, you've got way bigger problems.
