Hi Julie , I feel like I know you. Found your channel several months ago , I have enjoyed each and every video! I would like to tell you a little about myself . I’ve carried a little paper around with me for close to 20 years with my dream home on it. I drew out the plans and sent them to the designer in April 20 20.He worked with me to fine-tune everything and finally found the builders that I am sure can do the job. I’m the owner of a health and wellness spa , this is what I’m focused on all the time , to help others to achieve optimal health naturally. At the age of 65 I awake each day with excitement in getting to learn design and you are great at teaching us all!! I love love love learning of feng shui. It is hard to believe that I was intuitively designing my house properly. Where I’m living now ,Is a two room facility that I had built to stay in while my house is being constructed I had placed a mirror on the kitchen counter directly across from the cook stove and since June 1 the smoke alarm has probably been activated 50 or more times so whenever I watched your video about mirrors and feng shui I immediately moved that mirror !!!!! Thank you for all the videos teaching us about this energy. I do have a question my living room is 18x28 fireplace on one end The front door entrance the kitchen opening which is a large arched wall the dining room opening the wall to the courtyard is a wall of glass doors and also the doorway to the master suite is all coming off of this main room. I’ve watched your videos on creating sitting areas in these odd shaped rooms , But I’m confused about coordinating the furniture I like your idea of everything not matching matching but I want it just somehow go together. Oh yes almost forgot to say my home should be ready in March 2022 I will continue to use every spare moment watching your videos and learning more each day to create a most wonderful place to call home finally .. Thank you Julie for all youre doing for us out here.. I greatly value your expertise in design 🙏🏼❤️

Thank you for watching and leaving a wonderfully kind message Pamela. As for your living space, you need to create a natural path for egress, so 36” away from the primary bedroom door is a must. Once you mark out the clearances, the space you have leftover is the maximum space for the seating group. Watch my video on focal points so you understand where to place the largest sofa (opposite the focal point usually). The rest can fill in from there. You got this! Let me know if you have any additional questions once you land on that video 👍🏻☺️

Thank you Julie for a great video! After watching, I shopped my house and went out and bought a few nice additions for the table scape. Our holidays are the times we use beautiful china, cloth napkins, silverware and crystal, but not in an overly formal way. As much prep work as possible is done in advance so the day of is much more relaxed. Blessings to you and your family!

A tremendous variety of table settings. Excellent job. I got a few ideas for Christmas table set up too from this video. I have my tree up and visible from the dining room by thanksgiving. It’s artificial. I have always felt that Halloween starts the holiday seasons. Because it gets dark early I like to keep the outdoor holiday lights going so I start the set up for Christmas right after Halloween just so I can have the lights. They make me smile. Such a happy time of year! And you are at the start of your happiest years because it’s all about the children. Keep up the good work!

Great ideas, thanks. I love setting a pretty table, it's nice to set it the day before but don't do this if you have a cat because it will spend the night re arranging everything and napping on the dinner plates. Learned this from experience 🤣

Dressing the table is one of my ultimate p,erasures. I love it so much I often start days before the event. A couple of my tips are: I don’t use napkin holders or menus at the place settings because they litter up the table immediately when the meal starts. I place the beautifully and sometimes artfully folded napkin at each setting and I post the menu on a chalkboard that is visible to everybody. I also add a nice party favour at each setting. It might be a hand written recipe card or themed item to match the setting. For example I made chicken pot pies one time and each person when home with a lovely crudest pie bird. Loved all your inspiration shots!
@JulieKhuu3 жыл бұрын
That’s true! I do have to go around and corral all the napkin holders once dinner begins 😆

I really am enjoying various creative table setting designs. Just finished doing my table setting. I use my best dishes every day. I don't understand why people have their china just for special occasion, every time you get to break bread family is a special occasion. I hope you do one for the holidays.

Hi Julie! Another very interesting and helpful video of yours again. Very timely to our forthcoming thanksgiving lunch or dinner. The funny part is that every Thanksgiving, since I belong to a big family, we ended up using all disposables like paper plates, cups, spoon and forks. No one wants to wash dishes. But your suggestion and illustration will serve as a guide and ideas to us your subscribers. Thank you for sharing and enjoy the rest of the week.

Love the ideas you shared. Our thanksgiving is going to be fun as my family in California is coming to Texas to celebrate. My dining room is an eclectic mix of contemporary design with Asian accents. I can’t wait to decorate my table and will be using black placemats, gold chargers and not sure what dishes I’ll use….I have inherited 2 sets of china from my mom and the white china is always my go to because it works with everything.

Hi Julie - I just discovered your channel and I love your content and variety of ideas. I too love to set a beautiful table for the holidays. I have a question tho, with beautiful decorations displayed on the center of the table, when dinner is served, do you remove decorations prior to serving dinner, or do you leave decorations and serve buffet style? Or, leave decorations and utilize a sideboard or table to place all the platters, bowls, bread baskets etc?
@JulieKhuu Жыл бұрын
I leave the centerpiece and serve buffet style, but that’s how I entertain. If you want a more formal table where all of the dishes are Kayed out, opt for a true centered centerpiece and disperse candles throughout. That is plenty to fill an already crowded table Terry

Our choices definitely differ..lol. However..i will give what is *Just my own personal opinion...because you asked us to. For my taste...i do not like tall centerpieces, as you said they block conversation, but neither do i like scattered loose small things that just look disjointed & feel like they were tossed around as an afterthought. Some of those 'centerpieces ' in this video were far too busy, a riot of loud brassy colours, they caused tension & noise..uncomfortable enough to possibly cause a migraine...as will too much, no matter how lovely, tends to crowd out the diners plates, as some of that foliage was doing, overlapping onto diners plates...making them feel..not quite Welcome there at that table... Folded napkins, be they playful or traditional are welcome comforts..unless they are literally slopped onto the plates & literally hanging over the sides of the table..that' just...looks & feels..careless..and might cause doubt & concern about the fare we may soon be ingesting...... Feathers, while they can indeed look striking, should never be laid on a plate people are going to eat from...they are harbingers of dust...put them in tiny bud vases a fair space from the plates..their impression is still implied. On the other hand you did have some Wonderful and Brilliant things on the tables..but they were hard to spot & often got lost in the crowd. Eating, even if a Formal dinner...must Always be all about Comfort. We should always give our guests a sense of Welcome & Belonging
