I have had tastings of Cristal on several occasions--it's definitely on the finesse side, while their vintage brut is more powerful. Last tasting was a flight from their NV, vintage, vintage blanc de blanc and then the Cristal. All were very good and the NV is still a bargain with the 242, 243 and now the 244 iterations. One of the best houses IMNTBH opinion.

you are missing some of the top and most expensive Italian brands, namely: Quintarelli and Dal Forno in Veneto, Bartolo Mascarello, Luciano Sandrone, Vietti, Giuseppe Rinaldi in Piedmont, Tua Rita (the second ever 100/100 RP in Italy after Sassicaia), Biondi Santi and Montevertine/Pergole Torte in Tuscany

Hi!! Been binge watching your videos lately and I find them so easy to understand and follow!!!! I feel like I’m actually learning a lot about wines because you make it easy to understand and fun to watch. I’ve tried some of the wines on the list: casillero del Diablo; Belle Époque and I loved them. But now, after watching and learning more about 🍷 wines thank to your videos I want to try them again with a different mindset! Thank you so much for your videos!!!

that's the best compliment I've heard in a while :-) if not ever. that's made my year 2020 :-) Glad you enjoy the videos. Yes, wine is simple!. I mean, there's a lot to it, a lot you can dig into as well, but it doesn't have to be complicated. It's not, it's people, plants, a bit of science, a lot of magic, and a whole of fun more than anything. Cheers. Looking forward to continuing the learning and sharing journey with you :-) (can't stop smiling after your comment, and putting these :-) symbols too). See you around soon...

Great videos and list. I would add the holy trinity of Italian wines; Quintarelli Amarone Riserva, Barolo Monfortino Conterno and Biondi Santi Brunello. All native grapes unlike the super Tuscans.. no Ruinart and Burgundy whites?? Diff job to fit it all in!!
@YouTubeJulien3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing this Angelo! Indeed, those would deserve a spot in there. Yes, can't fit them all in here. Tried to have a variety of things. Guess it should be the Top 1000!!

Good job Julien and thank you! I wish to add to your list some special wines from Portugal, Hungary, Romania, and Chile. From Portugal: Anselmo Mendes (nicknamed as Mr. Alvarinho, he produces the most famous and exclusive wines of the Alvarinho grape variety); Quinta do Crasto - Vinha Maria Teresa (Douro, one of the most special Portuguese wines, produced only in a very good years, from a single vineyard with more than 40 varieties of traditional Portuguese grapes, from centenary vines; very famous field blend); Barca Velha (probably the most iconic wine from Portugal was produced for the first time in 1952 at Quinta de Vale Meão and this wine is bottled only in the very special years. So far there have been only 20 editions and the last one was in 2008. It seems that the next one will be 2011); Quinta do Vale Meão (one of the most special Portuguese wines from Douro Superior). From Hungary: Gere Attila - Kopar, Solus and Attila; From Romania: Davino - Flamboyant; From Chile: Montes Alpha - Taita (extremely limited is a wine predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon); Viña Errázuriz - Seña and Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve. I hope it helps you and in my opinion that it really is worth filling up with really important wines from Portugal. Thanks

Hi man. Yes, this is great! Could be useful for the Top 200. I guess there would be some ports to add too? Would be great to make a video dedicated to the top wines of Portugal (maybe 20 or 30?). If you think you can easily come up with such a list, that could be super useful
@YouTubeJulien5 жыл бұрын
Funny you mention Montes, i made a video about their Folly Syrah wine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6izqIFrjZJ7l6c What do you think. Ever tasted it?
@lusarom5 жыл бұрын
Yes Julien, would be great to add some Porto wines. In the Top 100 you already added Noval and you talked about Noval Nacional which is very special and very expensive at the same time. It doesn't understand what about Mateus Rose in your Top 100, but it's your choice. I can suggest you some top Portuguese wines to analyze and make a video. Do you want to send you here or on Facebook Messanager?
@lusarom5 жыл бұрын
I saw the movie and I liked it very much. Congtrats!!! Unfortunately, I tasted only a part of the Montes wines, as follows: Taita, Montes Alpha M, Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Syrah and I keep a few more years in the bottle Merlot and Pinot Noir.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Beaux Freres in your list as they are making some wonderful wines in Oregon. You might consider including something from the Columbia Valley in Washington state in your 101-200 video as they are doing great things up there too. Maybe Quilceda Creek?

good effort, how about making it , one video for one region, like all the things that in Rhone or Loire or Burgundy, maybe much better for us to know the region as a whole, like places, wineries, grapes etc, or even do it in different countries, what do you say?
@YouTubeJulien5 жыл бұрын
Fair point. I do share plenty of videos about wine regions and other topics on the channel. The goal here is to share all my wine knowledge and more on the channel. Have you seen any other of my topical videos? The thing is, it takes time to put those together, perhaps doesn't look like much but it's a whole lot of work. Will get there, but with time... 😅🍷

Hi. You forgot to mention a name from this list that actually has 101 Wines instead of 100. Scharzhofberger Riesling (Egon Muller & other wineries), Mosel, Germany
@clayroup48445 жыл бұрын
I think you just have to include Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella on that list. Its always in the discussion of most expensive and famous wines of Italy.

Oh, yep! My bad! You're right. Another example of were sometimes the 1855 classification is a little outdated! How come Durfort Viviens is 2d and Palmer 3d! It's doesn't reflect today's wine quality. Nevermind. thanks for pointing this out :-)

Are there any possibilities that these can be in CMS certified level question?
@YouTubeJulien5 жыл бұрын
Must admit that I don't know. I did the WSET diploma so I'm familiar what they ask there, but don't know the CMS. I'd think those are fairly obvious famous names that are good to have at least a small grasp on which is what i tried to supply in the video. But can't specifically answer your question? Anyone else? Perhaps ask your fellow students?

Way too many "California" brands. Totally udeserved. You are being partial to your intended audience instead of being neutral and professional. Bad
@YouTubeJulien2 жыл бұрын
I guess it's a way of looking at it :) Saying that I'm not professional is pushing it a little though. Wine is subjective, never forget that, that would be unprofessional 😊🙏🥂 No hard feelings. Take care mate! 🍷
