I started singing in 2002 when I was casted as... Harold Hill in The Music Man, back in college. It's where I heard this barbershop tune for the first time and was bit by the barbershop bug. :)

My dad was heavily into barbershop in the 1950s, and the Buffalo Bills, the quartet for whom Willson wrote those roles and music, and who played the school board both on Broadway and in the original movie, were good family friends. My dad coached them when they were putting that together, and this is perfect-the closest recreation to the original Lida Rose part of it that I've heard (and I wore out two LPs of the soundtrack as a kid!). I got goosebumps listening, because I recognized a few of the things that my dad suggested that they do with the text. I could hear the Buffalo Bills in our living room with me listening through the bedroom door!! Merci Julien!

@@ginabalestracci140 So nice of them to sng along with you. Al Shea seemed to have a built-in smile on his face, looks like the photos didn't lie! How was Verna Reed, loud? My favorite voice in the group was that of Dick Grapes, their baritone. His delivery on Climb Every Mountain was so smooth. I would have loved to sing with these guys. You don't hear barbershop like that nowadays.

The Music Man is one of my two favorite musicals of all time (the other being The Phantom of the Opera), and this is a wonderful rendition of these songs... Julien, your range never ceases to amaze me, Elena's voice is so airy and almost magical, and Christy Lyn's piano backing ties it all together so beautifully. Nicely done, you three.

The movie soundtrack of The Music Man was one of the few records we had when I was a kid. We watched it every time it came on TV., and our hometown was mentioned in the song Iowa Stubborn. My parents both died a few years ago about this time of year (March/April). This excellent version brought memories to me and tears to my eyes. Thank you all for for creating it. It has the power to move people all these years later.

In my very early teens, the mid 50's, my parents took me to see the Music Man stage show in London, and of all the fine music from the show Lida Rose and Barber-Shop had the greatest effect on me. And to this day (August 2023) it has remained one my personal favourites and a song I still sing or hum sometimes. Thank you Meredith Willson for educating me and kindling my appreciation for this music. long live Barbershop Harmony.

My school just did Music Man as our musical this weekend. Apparently, it's the third time our school has done it. This was my favorite song from the musical and I love this version of it. You're all so incredibly talented and I love your harmonies.

That is the best rendition of one of my all-time favorite show tunes that I've ever heard! Julien's cover of The Buffalo Bills' rendition is spot-on - but don't believe for a moment that this is all he can do, because if you watch some of his other videos, you'll astounded by his mastery of American barbershop harmony, just as I am. Elena's performance is so sweet she brought a tear to my eye - it felt like she was singing directly to me! And Christy's heartfelt piano is much more than accompaniment; it elevates the whole performance to a higher level. You three are truly a musical Dream Team!
