The fact that the Bride and her friends were even touching the make up kit is making my eye twitch. Dont touch things that arent yours. The amount of times people have reached over the counter to grab things that are just for the employees is mind boggling. Such entitles behavior

@julieruby wouldn't that mean she'd have to replace everything that was contaminated? She said she had a lot of high end products and im just seeing the amount of money that she might have lost. Or can you sanitize them to where you can still use some of those products?

@@CrystalWitchCat13 Yes she would which should be the bride/friends responsibility at that point. If they are powders, they can be re-santized with alcohol though!

I mostly do film and TV makeup work with some weddings thrown in and I can tell you straight up that some brides I’ve done are worse than the biggest Hollywood divas 😆😆😆. I think one of my worst experiences was when a bride hired me to do her makeup.. I drove 90 minutes to do her trial. She had her sister there watching everything I did. She tells me she loves her makeup and gives me the details for the wedding which was about 2 months away. Since my kids were toddlers, I hired a sitter for the day of the wedding to cover the whole day since it was far away for me. I don’t hear from the bride the day before so I call her to get the details of where I’m setting up, parking, etc and she says “I never hired you!! My sister is doing my makeup!!” I said if you didn’t hire me then why did you give me the date, time, location and all of that? She said that she can’t afford me so that’s why her sister is doing it. I said “the sister that was there that day of the trial watching EVERYTHING I DID??” Because I didn’t know better, I didn’t have a contract so I wasn’t paid for any of it. Not the trial, not my gas, I had to cancel the sitter who was counting on that money. I paid her anyway and just spent the day with friends. In the film world, we get paid for cancellations, so I assumed she’d honor that. I even left that asshole a lipstick on my trial so she could try it on with her dress 😡. Lesson learned!!

These stories give me PTSD😵‍💫 I wanna do one of my bridal party who was 2hrs late BUT I have to wait a couple more years because I fear they will see my video 😭😂 ALSO I 100% agree with you about those Facebook clients! They’re always looking for a bargain and that’s just a red flag for me, no thanks🚩 😀

Also… now they are saying “I can get GlamSquad to do it for $150 🙄. I suggest they do just that then lol 😆. People always say that we charge way more than we’re worth. It’s such bullshit. I’ve done makeup for decades now. My low day rate on a TV series is $70 an hour on a union show. We are one of the highest paid departments because makeup is important.

Great job on the video! I love bride drama! I was a florist way back in the day. Some people were so nice and others were, well, not nice. I know the two services are not comparable but thought I would share and support 😊

Thank you so much and thank you for sharing your experience as a florist! I'm sure even though we are in different careers we had pretty similar situations happen. I have quite a few friends in the wedding industry and no matter what type of vendor they are, we all can relate!

The audio sounds really good! My god! I will say the dryness you can get from some people might just be them being socially awkward, and the language barrier/social norms might be different for them as well. So it can come off a bit rude/dry but it’s just not our ‘over the top’ American hospitality. Living abroad and learning so much about that over the years it’s been very eye opening.

Thank you Misty!! I found this microphone literally in a junk drawer that a friend gave me 3 years ago and I never realized that it was meant for music studio recordings haha! You do make a great point in that it could definitely be the language barrier or culture. The makeup artist in the video mentioned the other people, but not the bride herself having a language barrier. I'm sure traveling around you've experienced a wide variety of cultures and people!

This was such an interesting video! It makes me feel so much better knowing that I'm not the only one out there that made mistakes when I first started. I also would genuinely love to poll the public (aka brides) on where they get some of their ideas about makeup artists and their policies/pricing. Some of them are very clueless. 😂 I have a lot of mother of the groom/bride say that getting your makeup done was not done when they were getting married and I think makeup artistry itself is a relatively new career path, which I wonder if that is why some have trouble respecting it as a person's job instead of hobby.

Thank you Rachel! You are definitely not alone! We have all made mistakes either in the past or even present as well. You also make a great point in that some brides truly do not have a gauge on pricing haha! I would have expected a friend or two to maybe have informed them, but maybe nobody genuinely talks about prices nowadays?

Sorry… lol one more thing… I know some of the top makeup artists in the industry due to my job and THEY ALL HAVE DRUG STORE PRODUCTS IN THEIR KITS!! 😂 One of my dear friends in Angelina Jolie’s MUA and she uses some drugstore products on her.

Hearing how the bride and friends contaminated the products made me so upset. I generally can’t stand it when people just touch other peoples makeup or skin care. One time a friend of mine shoved her fingers into my moisturizer without asking. I just wanted to show the texture and she just went in there and applied it to her hand. Just why 🥲

Right?! I would've died! I'm really not sure what makes people think it's okay to just touch other people's things. I'm so sorry you had that experience with a friend, but hopefully it was still salvageable!

I'd never be that crazy if I were to get married in the future I'd want the music to be at a reasonable volume so that people could easily talk to each other I want slow soft lights I want my dress to be ankle-length with a tiara instead of a veil I want the guests to eat the food with utensils instead of their hands and drink from the right glassware and I'd also have cupcakes instead of a big tiered wedding cake and the decorations should have a pink blue and silver color scheme

Weddings are about time managed well just like at a fashion show or stage performance where there can be more than 1 MUA doing the job. As long as everyone is getting their solicited payments, there can be as many muas as the event requires, right?

Yes you are correct! Weddings do require a lot of planning and time management. Yes, there usually a couple of makeup artists that come to weddings if a party is over a certain number of people or the time window is too narrow to get everyone done in time.
