Back in the 70's, I grew to about 6' 2" in high school and friends and I used to go play ball at my old elementary school on the 9 foot goals. I could just barely dunk a 10' goal on a good day, but on the 9' ones I used to try to do Dr. J. moves. He was the only one I really wanted to play like. He made it look so easy, so graceful. Always loved watching him play.

Let me tell you kids something. I watched this cat in his 20s!!!!! This cat was unstoppable. No answer defensively for this dude. When he arrived in Philly, they told him not to shoot as much and to pass more, and he did without defiance. A true team player. He was something that no one had ever seen before. Moves and shots out of A DREAM.

GREATEST PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE EVER. I'm admittedly biased because he played in Philly (where I'm from), but I don't think any other athlete in sports has ever represented his team, city, organization or himself with as much dignity, class or professionalism; while being considered one of the greatest players and most athletic players at the same time. Where did his class and professionalism go? Are we the fans to be bereft of his legacy of professionalism forever? I wonder.

No one changed the game so much in the sport... also, no one has more CLASS in the sport than Julius Erving. I'd STILL be a basketball fan today if there were more players like Dr. J. Yeah, depending on your age Michael, Kobe, Lebron, or someone was the GOAT. But let's face it, modern basketball wouldn't be what it is without the Doctor. He changed the game, and all Michael did was continue to do what Doc did (in a bigger way). From there, guys played a game that was changed many years before by one Julius 'Dr. J' Erving.

One of the most prolific scorers of all time I have him sixth on my list with just over 30,000.A very gifted athlete he had everything you need to be great with those huge hands fantastic leaping ability ,long arms and legs for a guy 6'6" he had the reach of a seven footer. Now Micheal has great hands but i,m giving the edge to Julius the way he would just pick the ball up in mid stride look at the dunk at 3:57. that is against Micheal Cooper he was one of the best defenders in history,
