For the first time the South African parliament sounds like a parliament of a people who fought and defeated apartheid with a specific mission to give effect to that victory instead of apologizing to our oppressors for having oppressed us. It is not us who are supposed to apologize. We did not oppress ourselves, we were oppressed and those who oppressed us owe us an apology not the other way round. Many of our martyrs who survived the war have since passed on without having received that apology instead insult to their injury, in the form of apologies to our oppressors, was the order of the day to date. That is not a problem at all...it is a natural state of transition...after years of oppression we do need black empowerment. You would not understand that because you never had to cut your childs hair because the school though it was unkempt(meaning not straight enough). You never worry when you buy a bandage plaster that it might no match your skin colour. You never worry that you might not find books for your children that also tells their narratives. You never worry that your son might be stopped by a neighbourhood watch guns ready to fire just because he is black...Equality can never happen unless we are all equal which we can clearly see by wealth distribution we are not there yet...we are the most unequal country in the whole wide world...equality starts when my mother does not have to leave us in the house at 4 in the morning just to go to some white ladies house to feed and bathe white ladies children while we sit at home hungry and dirty. As i have already stated - equality means that we should have an equally elected president - who stands for equal rights and equal responsibilties. Sure black people were wronged in the past - but that is clearly all over now - do you think it is equality to have one paticular type of people in a higher place of power than another? Do you think it is equality to turn apartheid around on the white people to make it fair? I think not - and if you believe that then you are just as bad as the apartheid government. Also was i born during apartheid? Was i the one that personally put it in place? No i was not - so why must it affect me? That is why i stand for equality and democracy to make sure that NOBODY is put into a disadvantaged state. I understand Affrimitive Action and that we have laws that make sure black people get jobs but we must all be looked after. Forget creed, race and heritage. We are all South Africans. A process like that (zimbabwe) would traumatise and not heal. That does not mean we have to ignore the effects and not rectify them. When apartheid ended I was about 7 years old...Do you know what that means to my family????????????? It means I was the first member of my family to get a proper education and attend a University. Even when I did attend University because my mother was a domestic worker I had no money to finish my studies. That is a direct link to apartheid...something my dear Casey called generational privilege...A white kid who was born the same year as me had better opportunities and probably was bought a car on her first day of university. Whereas I when I get a job have on my shoulders the burden of providing for my family members who were denied a better education because of apartheid. That we see today...the way you use the word equality I am beginning to think we do not live in the same country (theoretically we do not because we grow up on different sides) because if you think that the people living in Khayelitsha chose to live there and are offered just as many opportunities as those in Cape Town then well you still have a lot to learn in terms of defining equality. Equality means being afforded the same opportunities but black people today are still not being offered the same opportunities. There is still no form of reliable transportation linking them to cities after apartheid threw them to the outskirts of civilisation. After the 1994 election my grandmother went to work for her white madam and that month received her R70 wages...Oppression does not end when you put black people in power it is a system and like any system it needs to be dismantled from the core...I am sorry it makes you uncomfortable...I would be uncomfortable too if I was white and guilty of enjoying privilege on the backs of the oppressed....

finally, the A.N.C has a valid opposition party since 1994: I am an A.N.C voter, however, I hated the fact that the ruling party had no opposition party post 20 years. my friends and I, had had multiple conversation about the statue of botha outside the parliament, that statue should be gone yesterday. Being white and a non-EFF, non-Julius fan. I will admit that i like the fact that he points out where the ruling party is making their mistakes. If the DA had won the election and not lived up to their promises i would like to see him do the same. Having said all of that... Julius is 33 years old... so he would have been 13 when apartheid ( the dumbest thing ever ) was abolished. He has lived more of his life in a non-apartheid South-Africa than what he did in it. The last Elections was the first time people who where born after the abolishment of Apartheid would be allowed to vote. A whole new generation who (if BEE had worked) should be on equal terms. I agree with you but also remember that you don't need to have lived during apartheid to be affected by it. His family situation was most likely dire as a result of apartheid and that's something one lives with every single day even post-apartheid. These are the consequences of a terrible regime. Anyway, I think the conversation needs to be more about rich and poor than black and white, as there are both filthy rich blacks and poor/downtrodden whites as well. The colour labeling just fuels racism. It doesn't help the situation at all.

Peoples opinions should be respected at all times, Yes Julius may have spoken ill previously, but the content of his address is spot on. we need his caliber. For instance, more and more people including most of you that have commented here are curious to know what is going to happen in parliament next, I still maintain that the people that have brought the parliament in to disrepute in the past week is Ma'Lindiwe Sisulu. Julius Malema, Mosi Maimane and General Holomisa spoke sense and one of the my worries amongst many things is the inability of the Chair person of NCOP to be neutral. she is Biased and will cause chaos.
