Watching the races now I see the fast times, but it's not as exciting as the original Meadowlands, the track doesn't seem the same to me. All the races with Sonsam, Niatross, Niahlator, April's Skipper, New Lew, and more seemed more genuine, just my opinion.

Because 1 mile sprints suck. These horses should go at least 1 1/2 miles

Except they're not bred for distance. They're bred for sprinting speed. If you want distance racing, go to Europe or Australia/New Zealand.

@user-mb1hg4qu9f you mean where harness racing is doing better? Because in the US it's not doing well at all. Might want to try and carry that speed...

@jecrispy8217 Different country, different culture. I doubt crowd size is related to race distance.

@user-mb1hg4qu9f no but does effect the overall product. Mile races are great but mixing it up wouldn't hurt, especially on a half-mile track like when Yonkers had the 11/4mile trots. It was a big success. Just sayin

@jecrispy8217 crowds that I see for thoroughbred races at anywhere from 6 furlongs to a mile and one half, both here in the States and in England, are about the same in each case. It's cultural, my friend; not related to the distance. Harness racing here in the States has always been a small affair, compared to thoroughbred racing.
