Great update there mate... and thanks for the plug. It's neat that you're going for the sand drag, and gratifying that something I suggested will be made. The question is... how are you going to achieve the look of it. Obviously, even a fine sand is going to be overscale... so I'm thinking some kind of powder could be used over a base layer. Bicarbonate of soda could work. Perhaps weathering powder. Perhaps you could take a visit to B&Q or a builders merchant that cuts wood and collect some MDF 'sawdust'. I think that would be fine, dusty and the right colour for the job. I think it's a good move to go for the fully scenic section of the layout... but I'm not sure rolling hills with sheep/cattle would look right. Your layout has a medium sized station with InterCity strains stopping, and a depot right next to ther scenic section. Given your layout is set as a medium sized town, it's probably going to be another mile or two down the line before you'd get to the 'countryside'. However, there is plenty of suburban scrub land on the edges of a town, where you'll get a few industrial units on one side of the track, with hilly unkept scrubland where it's grassy, but no mowing ever happens, which is surrounded with scruffy hedges and thorny bushes and trees around the edge. If you have some suburban backscene left over, you can have that in the background with a few houses peeking over the horizon in the distance, with the rough, but attracrively green scrubland in the foreground. Here's a couple of examples of what I mean, which may inspire you? goo.gl/maps/vWwK1ouRn8v goo.gl/maps/82tWwA398Sk goo.gl/maps/qctSJJh1hzC2 goo.gl/maps/JcL6WLKgCDM2 I think this one is perfect for you, and I can imagine the land rising up to require a tunnel. Good luck with the new baby! "Whatever babies need doing with them".... LOL, it sounds like your prepared for this new adventure in life!! Heh heh!!

I think you have done a cracking job on the TMD concrete. Looks very realistic. That 07 shunter does look cool, I also like the Janus shunter that has been realeased too. Good work and good to see progress. Best wishes to you and your family for your new baby👍

Good progress on the layout, looking really good. Thanks for the concrete tip I'll try that, as you, i seem to struggle with concrete as well. Love the Heljan, good colour. Best wishes to you and your wife on the addition and a heir to boot.

Nice layout! Your detail is quite good. I use foam board from woodland scenic for all my roads and scribe the expansion lines and cracks into the surface, I think your track plan looks great and its nice to see you resisted the temptation to fill in the open area with more track. Keep up the great work. good luck with the newest family member! Mike

I like the effect you've got on the concrete. Ive got to say my preferred method that I love is using poly filler. I think it works well as the filler gives that concrete texture immediately

Pleased to see you making so much progress. If you are going to create a cutting, try and make it deep/high enough so the trains disappear for a few moments. I have a cutting on my layout and the effect of the trains being out of sight for a few moments is quite pleasing....Cheers Greg from Australia...PS Hope all goes well with pending birth of your son.
@GowertonParkway6 жыл бұрын
Greg Hale Thanks Greg. I plan to make the cutting fairly steep as you suggest, the idea being this will lead to a tunnel .
