Hi. It was really interesting to see your videos. My father worked on the railways all his life. A driver (mostly on freight) and I remember him leaving the house at all hours of the day and night to go to work. He used to mention his daily trips to places like the Trostre and Velindre works. He also mentioned the yards at Margam which he referred to as the marshalling yards. I also remember (as a kid of about 5 or 6) being taken down to work with him for a shift (wouldn't be allowed now) on a shunter at the yards. I seem to remember something called "a hump" where the driver would literally push wagons which would go over the hump and be guided by the points system to be stored in any of a multitude of sidings. Of course I was a child so everything would have seemed a lot bigger than they probably were.

It’s one thing to ask for advice, but another to listen and take it on board. You did both. Many people are either too lazy, or too scared to change what they’ve done, but there’s nothing like making changes, radical ones in this instance, to build confidence. I know your pleased that you’ve remodelled it and it’s going to tie in nicely with your future plans. As my colleague Ben would say….Bravo!! 👏

To change work already done is often a hard decision, but if you think you want to change something it needs to be done, or else it will always bug you. This is proved by the result of the work done is this excellent video. Perhaps a little rust on the bridge might improve it. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Bob

Ahhh, that most revered of allies...the bread knife. Both sledge hammer and scalpel in the right hand. A successful work of surgery. Talbot Moors might just be my new favourite!

Glad you came back. Excellent channel. No issues with the presentation. Don’t let editing and production eat up your time, or spoil your enjoyment. Last but not least, your layout has that essential magic quality.🙂

Thank you very much ! My layout building skills are somewhat better than my video presentation skills 😂

VP is good. You do yourself a disservice. Why I mentioned editing and production... more than a few new channels have got their knickers in a twist already, chasing exacting standards, and worse, believing they have to. They've quickly forgotten that it's a hobby (to enjoy, and share) , and not a competition to produce the slickest videos, or the most per week. Keep doing what you're doing. If you do want to change things, that's fine, but always put your enjoyment first. It's about the layout, not the channel.🙂

Many thanks for a great video. Fantastic looking layout and really looking forward to the next update and especially the one you're planning with regards to "how to do the vegetation" as this looks superb on your 'Talbot Moors' project 👍. Thank you for sharing.

Brilliant video. Really nice ‘how to’ footage. It’s 100 times more watchable than just talking about what’s been done. Excellent video. Totally appreciative.

It’s great to see you back on KZbin. I’m in the middle of creating a layout based on South Wales in the 80s. Looking forward following your progress and tips when you further develop your layout. Keep up the good work

Lovely job buddy. It's really helpful for people like myself whom are new to the modeling world to see that it is possible to change those bits that aren't as good as they would like without destroying the whole thing. Brilliant! Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing the next video.

The scenery on this layout is absolutely superb - really nicely done, and it all blends together really well. I agree the bridge does look better, although it looked pretty good before too!

Great Video, enjoyed watching that.. what a transformation!! Gives a real depth of field now the bridge is place, takes a lot of balls to rip up a layout to make a change....and its paid off here really well...👍😉

I was having doubts as you hacked it all open, but it worked out nicely. And yes, absolutely show at least some of the techniques you implement, because everybody does it a little different and we all learn something, and the hobby as a whole evolves together.

Cracking job, and yes it is lovely to see the methods you’ve used. The scene is definitely much more believable. Having the small area behind the bridge adds that air of mystery about where the tracks goes.

any chance of a running video with some trains that you have and show them in detail. im looking for any diesel train that looks good and that is a dcc that is under £120 doesn't have to have audio but would like working lights. any recommendations? looked on Hatton's but its very over priced as a second hand model shop

Friendly advice; the video could do with some sound equalisation. You were really quiet, so I turned the volume up to hear you, but then when the stock music came in, it was deafening.
@GowertonParkway Жыл бұрын
Yep , noted. The problem was my camera was on a tripod , filming me talking , and the mic isnt good enough annoyingly. Might have to invest in a small mic !
@amfwelsh Жыл бұрын
great job. but nearly burst my speakers from the volume changes
@dibsyardshuntinglayout Жыл бұрын
Yes I was just about to comment on that. Needs to attenuate the music to the speech or vice versa.

KZbin seems to have made it a lot worse than it was on iMovie pre publication. Ill have to have a play around with it and see if i can make it a bit better , or failing that - not use music !
@dibsyardshuntinglayout Жыл бұрын
@@GowertonParkway there might be a feature on the movie app called normalisation or something for the audio.

I will keep an eye on it ( or even an ear ! ) Perhaps I will watch back through headphones before i post the next one .

The one thing annoys me no end about model railway people is they always add vegetation on bridges! Why? You look at any bridge you will see no vegetation just ballast! Wall to wall ballast!
@GowertonParkway Жыл бұрын
Not true - there are many examples of vegitation growing on bridges, here being just one for starters : flic.kr/p/2oJEAnk . UK rail infrastructure is quite poorly maintained in places , amd vegitation on bridges , and in fact in the middle of running lines is common place .
@rtalbot87 Жыл бұрын

There is a warning in the description at the top if you take the time to read it ..... I am aware of the issue, but thanks for pointing it out anyway.
