July 2023 Layout Update!
This particular section of the layout has gone through 3 lives now, but this is by far the best use of the space! Follow along for the first major rebuild to prep for the expansion to connect!
Note: next week’s video is pre-recorded. The following week (8/12), I will most likely not be uploading, as I will be in ohio. However, being there means future on-location content for you!

Man what a great update. Where will your article be published? Idk how you sync up the sounds but they are spot on. How do you wire up your walthers switches? Do you use frog juicers?

I’m likely going to submit to RMC…it’s my first article so I’m just trying to make it good! Sounds are dubbed…I have a bit of a library built up of ones that are the right speed, prime mover, horn, etc. As far as the turnouts, I did not use frog juicers because I’m in process of equipping everything with current keepers, so no real need. Glad you enjoyed!

You have an awesome layout for sure and the new yard looks great. I was quite surprised to see that you have a working tilting target signal on your layout which is totally amazing! I know of at least two real-life examples of these manually operated signals (one in North Vernon IN which is on the old B&O line from Cincinnati to East St. Louis, IL, and the other in Washington CH, Ohio) and there are videos on KZbin by Jaw Tooth that cover each one!. Keep up the great work you are doing!

There were at least 3 more in Jackson County near where I’m from, and then one in Newark…all these plus the ones you mentioned are all part of the MDTI system!

Layout looks great! Living and growing up close to the old DT&I right of way thru Oakhill, OH and where the DT&I interchanged with the B&O at Bloom Switch near South Webster, OH I must say you really do the line justice with your layout!

Nice update! Track work and signals look very good. And as always, love the dubbed sound. One question: Are you going to add backdrops? I think the painted blue wall takes something away from your skilled modeling and think a photo backdrop would look good. Either way, I love the layout...

Yep! Those are coming…it’s built just to slide in and tack on the wall so I can add them pretty much whenever. This side will go in after the track work through the wall is done. I’m also planning on painting the door so it doesn’t stick out so bad in video.

I should clarify - I need the track work through the wall completed so I can decide which method I want to use to disguise the opening, then the backdrop will be cut accordingly. I feel doing it now would add a layer of complexity in an already tricky build. ☺️

The layout looks great. By the way, some MBR (grass mats) would easily cover the rips in the old portion of the layout. Easy fix. I use a lot of MBR and Lars o 't Hof scenery. Keep up the great work.
