I think I recall reading that the Fletcher Pratt book was used by Harvey Kurtzman as a major reference for the Civil War special issues of EC Comics' TWO-FISTED TALES and FRONTLINE COMBAT.

Found your channel and very much enjoyed this episode. Sorry I missed Brattle when my partner and I were in Boston in December for four nights. We definitely walked all around there but not on that specific street. We did spend time (and money) in Commonwealth Books. Keep up the great content👍

I also prefer Ellison in non-fiction, there’s something about his attitude that’s fascinating and endlessly entertaining… and I can’t believe he is not in library of America! You’d think he’d be the first sf author they would reprint!

Ellison had a well-documented cantankerous side, but he could also be a pretty decent guy. At a book signing back in the 90s, I made the mistake of asking him to sign an English edition of Shatterday that he REALLY disliked (the publisher had cut out all of his introductions). He not only didn't sign it, he went off on the bookshop owner after finding out that he'd just sold it to me for $25.00. Anyway, he asked me for my address and, lo and behold, I got an inscribed copy of Shatterday (with introductions) in the mail about a week later, "with best wishes, a small gift from someone who despises price-gouging - Harlan Ellison."

I have _An Edge in My Voice_ in a 1996 hardcover that also includes Harlan Ellison’s _Over the Edge_ short story collection. The book is _Edgeworks 1,_ the first of four volumes of Ellison from White Wolf Publishing.
