James keeps watching and thinking about Juliet's video message. He snaps at Maxine and is less than pleased when he finds out that Lacey is helping Mercedes with Bobby's case. While arguing with Goldie, Goldie's dog Bronzer goes missing. Ste wants a romantic night in but while James first rebuffs him, he buys a chocolate cake from Tony, some of which they enjoy in the bedroom. When they emerge, Ste hears Bronzer bark and James admits finding him wandering around and bringing him there to teach the McQueens a lesson. However, Bronzer's now not moving, Ste can't feel a heartbeat, and they realise that Bronzer must have eaten more than a half of the chocolate cake, which is poisonous to dogs...

I'm glad they included that as it shows James had no intention of hurting her. Of course the McQueens will think James killed her on purpose...
